I do not know its electrical condition, or the condition of its 199 tube. It is an early battery set that could have had a separate amplifier and used a headset or an old horn speaker for sound. I have 2 pieces of paperwork that shows some of this. Its chassis looks pretty good to me. Its front panel looks pretty good. Its cabinet may have been altered or repaired, or factory using more than one board for its back and bottom? Be sure to read my condition section for details on all this. It has a few places where it’s missing paint and a bit of surface rust on the underside of the base and on the back side of the rim of the horn (shown in pics). Note: The speaker wire is frayed on the out side protective cover/fabric part but the actual 2 wires inside of the cover are good (Shown in pics) and the one wire on the end still has a plug/pin on it… The other is bare wire. Vintage American Auto & Radio Mfg. American Beauty Radio that is in exceptional condition. Radio comes equipped with a Burgess 4 1/2 volt C battery and 2 Pilot By-Pass Condensers, and wiring. There is also another component that was found on the side of the interior that may be for the radio. Front panel is showing very little wear and all of the dials turn smoothly. All 5 tubes are present. Unfortunately, I have no way of testing this radio, but everything appears to be there to receive radio stations. Great looking radio that will be a fine addition to your collection. Do not hesitate to make an offer, all will be considered. Standing 15 1/2 inches tall, it is in both excellent physical condition. The metal shell and its factory crinkle finish look great. Atwater Kent was known for quality and it shows. Breadboards: 10C & 12C. Wood/Metal Table models: 19, 20, 20C, 20CL, 21, 22, 24, 30, 30A, 32, 33, 35, 36, 37, 38, 40, 41, 42, 44, 45, 48, 49 & 50. This speaker is also compatible for use with many other brand name battery and AC powered radios from the same era. Dimensions of the Atwater Kent E-2 speaker are: 15 1/2 inches tall, 13 1/2 inches wide and 5 inches deep at the base. This is really nice, and an all original, AK breadboard that I have owned for years. The original cord is frayed in a couple spots but that is the only distraction from an otherwise excellent original, un-restored example. This radio has been with my collection in a climate controlled, smoke free environment. It is difficult to believe this radio is nearly 100 years old! Remarkably, the original factory tags are still on the bottom! Bakelite has no cracks or chips, coils are great, wooden breadboard is mint, and the radio comes with a set of good working 01A tubes. However, everything I can see looks great and original. I think that with the correct power supply and with proper attention, this set will work. It is difficult to find this model breadboard in this condition that hasn’t been restored by polishing, repainting, refinishing, etc. If youre looking for a great original AK Breadboard, this is for you.
