Vintage 1920′s possible Browning Drake Kit 4 tube radio that is in good shape for its age. Radio has 4 01A type tubes (1 Radiotron UV-201A short pin with a pip top, and 3 RCA Radiotron UX-201A), all of which tested good on my Eico Model 625 tube tester. The radio has two Velvet Vernier dials that turn smoothly and properly. The two large coils are labeled National Browning-Drake and are in good condition as well. There is an original Ray-O-Vac 4 1/2 bolt C battery inside the radio that would be for display only. The brace that keeps the top open is missing a grommet/screw and does not hold up the top as a result. The radio measures 25 5/8″ long, 11″ deep and nearly 9 tall. There is a split in the top and some minor warping and the base is also showing similar issues. The finidh on the radio is all original and has simply been cleaned and polished with a professional wood wax. Unfortunately, I do not have the ability to test the radio, but 4 functioning 01A tubes should be a good start on this early battery operated radio. An old, uncommon RCA Radiola X tube radio! It was one of the first radios to come out with an internal speaker and only about 14,000 of these were made. Wooden cabinet body with a loose horn speaker inside. The front has a lock on it which is a bit weird, we have the key but since the insides aren’t complete it doesn’t actually lock. Has the back panel with the schematics on it. Also comes with a loose Radiola X & Regenoflex schematics sheet that was sent to the previous owner in the 1960s. There’s a small box inside with hardware. Does not work and I’m unsure what servicing would be required to get it to working condition! There are pieces of wood that have broken off around the edges. There are feet on the bottom of the back, but not the front. Wear to the front panel like fading of writing and discoloration on knobs, as is expected at almost 100 years old. MEASUREMENTS: Whole radio measures approximately 21 3/4″ wide, 16″ front-to-back, and 20 tall. Carrier available to your zip code than what is listed first. As you probably know, these speakers are notoriously missing the back cloth covering the backside as it gets bridle with age and if you lift the speaker there the cloth rips apart. This speaker works and the cloth is almost perfect. Please look at the pictures. I do know how to pack this speaker so that the back is not in contact with anything and will not get damaged. Expect the speaker to arrive as pictured here. Rare find all intact! What you see is what you get, if it is not shown and not mentioned it is most likely not included; ask if in doubt. Package weighs 10 lbs and 0 ounces and measures 18 by 18 by 12 inches. I have never had any problems with breakage and pack very carefully. Up for sale is this old Thorola Junior gooseneck radio speaker. Its from the early 1920 and is in very good condition. It stands 19″ tall and the bakelite cone is 11.5″ across. There are some scuff marks on the cone that can be wet sanded and buffed out, otherwise its very shiny and damage free, no chips or cracks. The pot metal base has some light corrosion and paint loss. I connected 12 volts DC current momentarily to the speaker leads and got static, so I’m going to assume it works.
