This radio is in much better shape than others I’ve seen. Nothing broken or damaged in any way. Everything is there except for the Time Map inside the front drop-down compartment. Appear to have a base under the radio; I don’t have that. Resistor R18 has been replaced and nothing else. The tube filaments work and their plate voltages are normal. I sprayed, with contact cleaner, the band switch which made the oscillator work with a beautiful sine wave. Only the broadcast band was tested using the equivalent of the batteries (10.5V and 90V) from external power supplies. I will include the diagrams collected, the removed R18, and what’s left of the battery cable (with some new wire, of the proper colors, in that bag). The electrolytic cans can be restored with your new caps inside the existing cans (lots of work but very cool). I had a few various caps that would work in my pile of stuff so they are in the bag too.
This is a very cool rare Zenith radio designed by Charles and Ray Eames for Zentih, ca. This model turns on. Dimensions: 13″ wide x 6″ deep x 7.75 high.
HELLO AND THANKS FOR LOOKING. RECENT ESTATE FIND IS THIS VINTAGE ZENITH TRANSOCEANIC SHORTWAVE RADIO. IT APPEARS TO BE COMPLETE AND IN GREAT CONDITION JUST SHOWING SOME MINOR WEAR. THIS HAS THE COMPLETE ORIGINAL ANTENEA WHICH IS USUALLY ALWAYS MISSING OR BROKEN. I OPENED THIS UP AND FOUND SOME TUBES INSIDE IN THE BOXES. OK I PLUGGED THIS IN AND TURNED IT ON AND SEEMS LIKE NO POWER. NOW ITS POSSIBLE THAT I DIDNT HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT I WAS DOING, WHICH IS GENERALLY THE CASE WHEN ITS COMES TO THESE TYPES OF RADIOS. THIS MAY WORK, I HAVE NO IDEA!!!!! PLEASE VIEW ALL PICS AS THIS IS THE EXACT ITEM THAT YOU ARE GETTING.
37 cm wide, 21 cm high, and 18 cm deep. The front dial is clear enough and in beautiful condition. All four screws for fixing the back cover are missing, but since the back cover itself is a power supply pin-jack insertion system, we do not think there is any particular problem with it. (See photo of back cover). Radio reception is generally good, although there is only an internal antenna. New-Unused-Excellent- Very Good -Good-Acceptable-Junk. Please check the photos for the condition of the item. Packages>>Box or envelope and Bubble wrap. We provide valid Tracking Numbers for all orders. This radio works, but is probably a wonderful candidate for a full restore! The case has knicks and such, as you can see. This is highly collectible and representative of the Golden Age of radio!
