This is an excellent Braun SK2 tube radio that’s in perfect working order. It dates from the late 1950s and. Was designed by Artur Braun and Fritz Eichler in the same year that the renowned Dieter Rams was hired by the firm. It’s a great example of mid-century modern design, and this model, along with its cousins the SK3 and SK25, can be found in various museums around the world. It works well without the little external aerial at the back, but the extra aerial does help to improve the reception. I’ve tried to show the radio from all angles in the pictures, but can happily provide more photos. As it works well and I have no technical knowledge at all, I thought it best to just leave the cover in place. If you want some pictures of the tubes etc inside, let me know. This is a beautiful and fully working Braun SK2/2 tube radio with a Bakelite case dating from the late 1950s to very early 1960s. This model was in production from 1959 to 1961. It was designed by Artur Braun and Fritz Eichler in the same year that the renowned Dieter Rams was hired by the firm. With its simplicity and aesthetic beauty, this really is a design classic and can be found in various museums around the world. To me, it still looks genuinely modern, despite the design being around 60 years old. It’s in original condition and hasn’t been repainted or played around with at all. This means there are various imperfections to the paint on the Bakelite casing. Also, there is some damage to the panel at the back, but it’s not loose and remains solidly in place. Despite its original condition and age, it’s still highly presentable and looks fantastic. I’ve tried to show the radio from all angles in the pictures, but can happily provide more photos. There is slight crackling when compared to a modern radio, but it’s still fine to listen to. If you plug in an external aerial (which is not included, but cheaply and easily available), it becomes louder and improves the signal, so you can turn the volume quite low. As it works well and I have no technical knowledge at all, I thought it best to just leave the cover in place. If you want some pictures of the tubes etc inside, let me know. This radio is so cool. Estate found, Arizona local, works and was tested on site. This art deco collectible radio is in excellent condition for age. Appears to possibly have a small crack at 12 o’clock above red bezel, although hard to tell if its cracked or discoloration. Dial sticker inside is moving freely but does not affect radio. It features that awesome RACETRACK dial! The radio power on when plugged in and turned on and it plays nicely! I was able to tune in several stations here in central Indiana. He backlit dial light works as well. He wood cabinet is nice and solid and the finish looks exceptional. There are some minor imperfections like you might expect on a piece from this era. All of the various dials and switches seem to be working as they should be. As you can see from the pictures, the chassis looks clean but the radio has been in storage for many years so I’m sure that it could use a good/thorough cleaning. Please be sure to preview all of the pictures so that you can determine the condition for yourself. The radio powers on as it should and I was able to tune in several stations here in central Indiana. The backlit dial also works like it should. The wood cabinet is nice and solid. I believe that it was refinished some years ago as I think these sets were originally painted white with either red or blue accents. You can still see the original (I think) red paint in the wood grooves. As you can see from the pictures, the chassis looks nice and clean but the radio had been in storage for many years so I’m sure that it could use a good/thorough cleaning. I believe that this radio is 100% original, except for the finish. It measures approximately 7″ W by 5″ D and 5 H.
