Vintage 1951 / 1952 Tesla Talisman 306U Czechoslovakia. Superheterodyne (common); ZF/IF 452 kHz. Broadcast, Long Wave and Short Wave. Power type and voltage. Permanent Magnet Dynamic (PDyn) Loudspeaker (moving coil) / Ø 10 cm = 3.9 inch. 1.5 W (unknown quality). Tesla; Praha, Bratislava etc. Tablemodel without push buttons, Mantel/Midget/Compact up to 14. 265 x 155 x 160 mm / 10.4 x 6.1 x 6.3 inch. Variant 306U-2 with different tuning scale, 306U-9 had modified supply voltage 150V and 220V. Die mit dem gleichen Chassis hergestellten Talisman in ganz anderen Bakelit-Gehäusen gibt es ab 1951 mit dem 305U, dann 1951 306U, gefolgt von 307U und 308U aus 1953. Very Nice 1931 Vintage Philco 70, Works Great

Here is a very beautiful Philco 70 athedral Radio from the estate of a well-known northern California radio collector (for over 40 years). He suddenly passed away recently and his collection of over 350 radios came up for sale. All radios were in beautiful to mint condition and all were stored or displayed in his home. They all weathered the years very well. This estate is different in the sheer number of radios involved and the overall physical condition of each (better than most I have seen), plus many of these radios go back to the very early 1920′s to which I do not wish to power up and spend a lot of time on. These radios were collected over the years by a very serious collector and put on display by him and should be owned now by another serious collector. This specific radio, the Philco 70, is from 1931 and is great working order. The dial calibration is right on and the radio brings in many stations up and down the dial with clear and loud volume. We have a lot of Philco 70′s and 90′s come into my shop but this specific one is in superb condition when compared to those. The interior is clean with hardly any dust – it has obviously been kept in good condition. This item does not come up for sale very often so don’t let it get away. Stewart Warner took a bold and new approach with this bakelite gem. Featuring a truly classic and timeless art deco cabinet design with other subtle machine age design elements. The uniquely magnificent visual appeal of this set easily sets it apart from so many other cabinet designs of the same era and is one that no collection should be complete without. Packing solid audio and great selectivity, this tube radio measures 7″ tall X 12 1/2″ wide. This is a fully restored and working radio that is ready to play, display and enjoy for years to come in the comfort of your home or office. In the interest of safety, performance and reliability ALL paper, wax and electrolytic capacitors have been replaced with modern day equivalents. Any resistors testing out of their allotted tolerance have been replaced. Every tube was tested and replaced if found to be weak or under performing. Voltages are checked against the manufacturers specs. All moving parts are lubricated for smooth operation. A brand new power cord is added to replace the unsafe and brittle original. The signal strength is then aligned to factory specs to provide peak performance. Lastly, the set is then put through its paces by bench testing it for a minimum of 48 hours (sometimes even longer) to ensure reliability and to allow for a proper’burn in’ period for new components. As a result of this entire restoration process, the set sounds very warm, clear and plays strongly with that unmistakable tube driven sound. Very striking mirror-like dark chocolate bakelite cabinet with hints of darker brown smokey swirling and marbling. There was one crack on the right side of the cabinet that needed to be addressed. It was first secured together on the inside of the cabinet with a very strong high quality epoxy and then filled where necessary. Then through much time and effort, abrasively polished by hand with a 12 step dry abrasive system (no auto waxes or liquid polishes). The end result is completely seamless , very smooth and polished to a mirror shine. It is completely undetectable by touch having no gaps and no raised ridges. As you can tell by the before and after pics it has now been reduced to nothing more than a very faint blemish with some lighter blond/cream colored bakelite areas around the repair. Overall, what you are looking at is the original hand polished bakelite with all of its natural qualities and textures retained throughout the body of the cabinet. No’quick shine’ tricks are used. No oils, lacquers, or gloss coats are ever used. With each of my hand polished radio cabinets I invest significant time and attention to detail in order to bring you a set that is worth displaying in your collection or accenting your home or office decor. No dirt or grime in the lines or curves of the cabinet. No shortcuts are ever taken. Quality is the end goal. Knobs & Dial Scale. This set comes complete with the original butterscotch colored hen beak push buttons and each one of them work as intended. The original volume knob was missing so a newer one was found and painted to color match the natural color of the cabinet. The back board is a reproduction and is true to the original in every single way. Very cool and unique’film strip’ style dial scale which is nicely illuminated when the set is powered on and warmed up. All numbers are easy to read with no flaking or fading. Very Cool Vintage Citrus Green Philco Hippo Radio with Bluetooth

DIMENSIONS: Approximately 12″ x 7″ x 7.5 (L x W x H). COLOR: Citrus Green with Black Knobs. MP3: Upgraded with an MP3 input jack and includes a Bluetooth receiver. You can also use the included 3.5mm cable for your IPod. Very rare 1946 Hippo radio with a reproduction back and tube decal. Cabinet is in good condition with no cracks or splits. No cracks on top. This radio is 71 years old! The knobs are in excellent condition. The dial face is clear no stress cracks. Please see the photo close-up. The tuning dial works fine and smooth no slipping. All paper capacitors have been replaced with modern equivalents so this radio has another 50+ years or more of playing time! The tubes are working fine and have been tested with a tube tester and replaced as needed. The dial light works and has a new bulb. All out-of-spec resistors have been replaced with modern correct value and wattage equivalents. There is no loud or pervasive hum. There is no loud or pervasive static between stations unless you operate near modern electrical devices. The set has been aligned according to factory specifications. The power cord has been replaced with a modern cord with a molded polarized plug. Speaker is in original good condition with no tears or other damage. The radio has been thoroughly cleaned and inspected. All wiring has been thoroughly checked for possible bridging and weak solder connections. Comes from non-smoking, mature, clean professional environment. OPERATION: These old tube radios are better sounding than solid state audio devices, in my opinion. Nothing beats high voltages and heat in generating a warm organic sound that seems to fill the room. By comparison, solid state or digital seems to just approximate this effect. It’s for this reason that the highest quality audio equipment and amplifiers used by musicians today are still based heavily on vacuum tubes. Not surprisingly, rewards come with risks. Old vacuum tube technology until the sixties operate at high voltage and high heat compared to solid state electronics prevalent from sixties onward. Furthermore, these old designs are’hot-grounded’ to the AC line as opposed to the third prong “cold” ground. Vacuum tubes are an obsolete technology and very few manufacturers are still making them today. Contrary to widespread belief, they are not prone to failure. Very rarely will you ever need to change a tube because it has blown out or because it has shaken too hard. Most of these old radios still have the original tubes that came with the radio when it left the factory and they still work fine. Most of the radios made in the forties were wired point-to-point which meant inconsistencies during manufacture. Never put your hands inside one of these old radios when it’s turned on or plugged in. Never leave these radios turned on for an extended period of time unattended. Do not operate these devices on a metal table. Do not operate these radios on a wet surface. If the surface underneath one of these radios gets wet, pull out the plug before turning it off and dry everything off before attempting to turn it back on. For best performance, do not operate this radio near a modern electronic device; computer, microwave, home security, fluorescent light, etc. You will hear a constant humming or whining. All vacuum tubes take some time to warm up, no more than 30 sec to a minute at the most. The radio listed in this listing is restored only, not refurbished. With the right care and proper use, it should provide a another! Great for décor, a conversation piece, etc. They getting more collectible and increasing in value too.
