UNBUILT Knight BROADCASTER vintage vacuum tube AM radio transmitter repro kit

Reproduction Knight Broadcaster kit. This listing has multiple photos, scroll down to see them all. As stated in the details below, the kit does NOT come with vacuum tubes. This is a reproduction kit of the Knight Broadcaster – Amplifier. The kit also functions as an audio PA (Public Address) style amplifier, and has connections you can hook up a loudspeaker too. The kit is electrical equivalent to the original, with several minor changes. Our design includes a brand new, high quality, Triad isolation transformer. Appropriate changes has been made for mounting the transformer on the back, and for internal wiring. We have replaced the selenium rectifier with a modern diode. The kit comes with a prewound oscillator coil. As shown in the internal wiring photo, modern filter capacitors, smaller rectifier diode and oscillator coil, give easier and increased assembly and working room! To keeps costs as low as possible, the kit does NOT come with tubes. The circuit uses common tubes you may already have. The remaining tube is a 12AX7, probably the most common preamplifier tube in the world. We have gone to great effort, time and expense to acquire vintage style components , like those used in the original design. As shown in the parts photos, the kit currently uses vintage parts, including carbon composition resistors (may be vintage or modern manufacture), phenolic wafer tube sockets, phenolic RCA jacks, vintage terminal strips, and a vintage compression tuner capacitor. As time progresses on, these parts become harder and harder to find, and at some point may be replaced with modern equivalents. Until otherwise noted, the kit will come with the vintage parts just mentioned. The prototype in the photos used a couple carbon film resistors, but kits will come with ALL carbon composition resistors. NOTE: This kit requires good electrical and mechanical building skills, and is recommended for advanced builders. Some mechanical modifications are required, such as cutting the metal potentiometer shaft to the correct length, enlarging some holes, etc.. Some simple hole drilling to the bottom and side panels is also required. Being a first generation kit, some simple modification to parts is also necessary, such as modifying a couple of the plastic panel assembly brackets. The kit is constructed with individual fiberglass and plastic panels. The top, front and back panels of the kit are fiberglass printed circuit boards, with high durability lettering. The bottom and side panels are plastic (acrylic or similar), material. Their is a slight hue difference between the fiberglass and plastic parts. The parts are connected by plastic brackets and screws, as you can see in the internal view photo. Special blue screws are used to join the pieces together. The original manual is supplied as JPG scans on a CD-R. Note we do not supply copies of manuals. The kit is only for sale people with experience building and operated line powered devices. The kit must be operated under FCC Part 15 regulations at all times. This unit must only be operated with the supplied line isolation transformer. Not for sale to, or use by minors. Listing has multiple photos, scroll down to see them all. This was a working Graymark 510 radio, that we disassembled back to its original kit form. The parts were carefully removed, and all terminals, lugs and components are free of excess solder. The plastic case has been cleaned and polished. In addition to the original components that were salvageable, the kit comes with a COMPLETE set of NOS (New Old Stock) resistors, a COMPLETE new capacitor set, set of new tube sockets, and new hookup wire! You are building the kit with a new set of parts, just like the original! The resistors are ALL vintage carbon composition types, tested to be in spec. The ceramic capacitors are vintage parts with long leads. The RF front-end ceramic capacitors have been replaced with superior polystyrene types. The tubular capacitors are brand new film caps. Finally, we are including two high voltage electrolytic capacitors, to replace the original dual power supply filter capacitor, if it becomes necessary. This is as close as you can get to an original unbuilt kit! The plastic case is in very good condition for its age, better than you normally find. It has been cleaned and polished. It still has some small nicks and scratches, but is very presentable. Their is one large melt mark on the left side of the case, about 1.5 inches long. The front of the case is in very good – excellent condition. The manual is supplied as JPEG scans on a CD-R, please note we do not supply copies of manuals. Vintage NOS (New Old Stock), Graymark 505, 3-tube radio transmitter kit! This is one of the rarest Graymark kits. Kit is still in its original box. All the parts bags are still stapled shut! The box has some wear and staining, and a tear on the top flap. The bottom has a circular green stain about an inch in diameter. We have inventoried the kit, and it is complete. Their was one minor discrepancy in the parts. A resistor in the parts list has a 2.7 Mohm resistor, but in the parts bag is a 220 Kohm resistor. We are including an extra 2.7 Mohm resistor. Kit includes vacuum tubes, but this version does not come with a microphone. We will include a small crystal microphone. The manual is a photocopy of a used manual. It has some markings and writing in it. Please note we do not supply copies of manuals or schematics. This kit has one unusual feature. The printed circuit board has no component holes. This was a working Knight Broadcaster, that we disassembled back to its original kit form. The parts were carefully removed, and all terminals, lugs and components are free of excess solder. Knob is original, microphone not included. In addition to the original components that were salvageable, the kit comes with a COMPLETE set of NOS (New Old Stock) resistors, a COMPLETE new capacitor set, new hookup wire, new line cord, and partial new hardware set. You are building the kit with a new set of parts, just like the original! The resistors are ALL vintage carbon composition types, tested to be in spec. The capacitors are vintage or new parts parts with long leads. This is as close as you can get to an original unbuilt kit! The metal chassis has some minor scrapes, small areas of missing paint, mostly around the screw holes, and some rust spots; but is in good presentable condition. The imperfections will be less noticeable when built. Kit includes an original box. It has some minor wear, but is in MUCH better condition, than you would normally find, if you could even find the box! A photocopy of the original manual is included. The parts were carefully removed, and all terminals were cleaned with solder wick. Components were cleaned and re-tested, see photos. This kit is complete with its original box and paperwork. This is the version with the colorful, psychedelic 1960′s style paper wrapping, that wrapped around the outer box. These are seldom seem, as they probably got thrown away. The colors are still strong and vivid. The kit comes with a COMPLETE set of NOS (New Old Stock) resistors, COMPLETE new capacitor set, and new hookup wire! You are building the kit with a new set of parts, just like the original! This is as close as you can get to an original unbuilt kit! Comes with original paperwork and manual. Manual has detailed construction steps, and experiments to perform as you go along, if you chose to do so. The paperwork has some tears from age. Replacement coil forms can be found, or you can easily make your own, by mounting a plastic or wooden tube on top of a tube socket. The manual has detailed instructions and photos for winding these coils. The kit has the following minor issues. The metal base has some spots of missing paint, these could be easily be touched up. The bottom base plate is in excellent condition. The cardboard front is in overall excellent condition, with a couple very small areas of slight wear, Once again, it appears this radio saw little use. The paperwork has normal age wear you would expect. The manual has tears on the first few pages. The box is in fair condition. One flap and the top have separated as shown in the photos. The color wrapper was inside the box and is curled up, but can be unfolded as shown in the photos. When assembled, this will make a fine presentation model. NOTE: This kit uses a non-isolated AC line derived power supply. We strongly suggest the use of a line isolation transformer, while operating this radio. Not for sale to minors. Wow – a time capsule piece! This is a MINT condition, unbuilt Arkay S5E radio kit, in the original box! This kit is in close to’time capsule’ condition! Most parts are still in their original Arkay labeled bags! The bags have tears in them, and were stapled shut, they may have been opened before. We removed most of the staples to examine and catalog the parts. All parts and components are vintage and original! We thoroughly checked the kit against the parts list, and it is 100% complete. One 6/32 screw was missing, which we have replaced. The tube sockets are mounted on the chassis, the kit may have come this way, or someone mounted them. You can easily unscrew them if you want to. The kit also comes with a COMPLETE set of NOS (New Old Stock) carbon composition resistors, and a COMPLETE NEW capacitor set. You may want to build the kit with new components, especially new capacitors. The new capacitors include higher quality polystyrene and film types. We carefully examined the case, and their are no chips or major cracks. Their is a small surface scratch/crack, on the underside of the opening of the tuning dial area. Due to its location, it is hardly visible, and when the clear window is put in place, may not be noticeable at all. The box is in good condition for its age. The metal dial plate is in pristine condition, and looks better than any Arkay tuning plate we have ever seen! The dial plate and clear window were wrapped in tissue paper, and in a bag labelled S5E. The manual and three colored overlays are original. Kit includes the complete set of vacuum tubes. Four of the tubes are labelled Arkay, one says GT under the part number. Two of the tubes have chrome bases. The tubes are all in excellent condition, but have not been tested. Don’t miss this one, you may never see a complete original Arkay kit like this again! This was a working Archerkit 28-3105 5 tube radio, that we disassembled back to its original kit form. The parts were carefully removed, and all terminals, lugs and components were cleaned with solder wick. In addition to the original components that were salvageable, the kit comes with a COMPLETE set of NOS (New Old Stock) resistors, a COMPLETE new capacitor set, and new hookup wire! You are building the kit with a new set of parts, just like the original! The plastic case is in excellent condition for its age, and has been cleaned and polished. Their are several small (approximately 1/8 inch), minor blemishes on the top, that are not very visible. Some of the silvering on the front has worn off, but this could easily be painted back on. The case is an ivory color, as shown in the first photo. It looks white in other photos, due to the camera flash. Complete with original manual and box. The box is missing the top flap. The metal chassis is very clean and still shiny. It is assumed that the unit(s) will be installed and operated by qualified personnel. Not for sale to minors. Finally, we are including two high voltage electrolytic capacitors, to replace the original dual power supply filter capacitor, if it becomes necessary. This is as close as you can get to an original unbuilt kit! The box is not original. It is a generic box, and we have pasted a color reproduction on one side. It makes a nice display piece. The color reproduction duplicates flaws in the original, but it is still a nice looking retro graphic! The plastic case is in very good condition for its age. It has several scratches, but is in better condition than you would expect, from a previously built kit this age. A small piece is missing on one of the bottom rails, but is barely noticeable. One of the metal inserts in the back of the case, to hold that back cover on is missing, but this is a minor issue. The metal chassis is shiny and clean. Comes with JPEG scans of the assembly manual on a CD-R. The original line cord was damaged. It is included, and we have included a suitable replacement also.
