VTG (1938) Motorola 59T2 Worlds Fair Broadcast Tube Radio Receiver

The radio does power on when plugged in and turned on. I did not hear a hum or any static. It was not hooked up to an antenna. He backlit dial light works! The wood cabinet is nice and solid and the finish looks really nice. There are some minor imperfections like you might expect on a piece from this era. The tuning dial works well and the on/off/volume dial/switch functions nicely as well. As you can see from the pictures, the chassis looks clean but the radio has been in storage for many years so I’m sure that it could use a good/thorough cleaning. I do not have the proper equipment to test this piece any further. Please be sure to preview all of the pictures so that you can determine the condition for yourself. Cute turquoise blue Motorola tube amp radio! There are two spots on the top that look like burns and a crack near the back. The sides and bottom are in great shape. The second-hand is bent. All knobs twist as they should. There is a chip in the blue plastic edge of the tuner between the “8″ and “10″. This radio needs a detailed cleaning. There is static/white noise after the tubes warm up for under a minute and then silence. The clock does not seem to move. 11.25 inches long. 5.75 inches high. 5.75 inches deep, with knobs. Here is a red front case part to a Motorola “S” grill catalin radio. The front has a crack and some scratches but can probably be professionally repaired. It has stained grill cloth. It comes with a chassis for parts. It is missing the tubes and had the cord cut so it is untested. Parts needed for that restoration project. Motorola Pixie Original Vintage Store Advertising Display Stocked

You might be hard pressed to find this again its a wonderful and authentic store display piece for the Motorola Pixie, original and in excellent condition. It measures 24 wide at the base, 18 tall & 7 deep at the base & 3 deep in the case. The display is made of solid wood and comes fully stocked with four different colors of this hard-to-find radio with subminiature tubes. Motorola advertised these as the worlds most powerful pocket radios. Theyre made of a more modern sturdy plastic, not bakelite or catalin. The advertising displays original lettering is crisp and complete and has a nice patina. The glass is also original and in great shape with no cracks or chipping. The wood finish is original and flaking on the 3 sides, but I always prefer as close to original as possible and will leave it to the new proud owner to do as they see fit. The back hardware/latches are all present, with a few small chips to the wood backing as shown. The radios have not been tested due to the type of batteries needed. The cosmetic conditions are very good with minimal wear to the metal dial plate, normally susceptible to scratches and gouges. There’s a picture of each radio’s insides and they are pretty nice – you can see. A little discoloration corrosion? Around the top of the metal speaker frames in the red/green cases. All of the cases have no cracks nor chips with minimal wear marks, most notably on the bottom of the red version. These Pixies do not show up very often, especially in this condition. Add to that the rarity of the store counter case and you have one very nice and attractive display piece for your collection. I will be using a very large box to make sure this scarce piece arrives as you see it now.
