Grundig Majestic Model 1070 Vintage Radio as pictured. Works on FM Untested on other settings. Left speaker rattles and is likely defective from age. Cosmetic condition is as pictured. The radio will be package with the upmost care using two or more boxes and plenty of packing material. NEARLY PRISTINE WOOD CASE. 3 internal speakers: 1 huge 5.5″ x 9″ oval woofer speaker and 2 x electrostatic tweeters. ELECTROLYTIC FILTER CAPACITORS REPLACED WITH NEW. ALL OUT OF TOLERANCE RESISTORS REPLACED WITH NEW. WAX TUBULAR CAPACITORS REPLACED WITH NEW. CONTROLS AND SWITCHES CLEANED WITH DEOXIT. SPEAKER CLEANED OF ALL DUST BUNNIES AND TESTS PERFECT. WOOD CASE CLEANED AND POLISHED inside and out. ALL METALLIC SURFACES CLEANED AND POLISHED. BACK COVER IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. 2 Panel pilot lamps replaced with new. EM87 Magic Eye tube cleaned and tested bright and effective. SIZE: 20″W x 11″H x 10D. 6 tubes: ECH81, EF89, EABC80, EL84, ECC95 and EM87. POWER CORD is original and in excellent condition with on damage or defects. Phono input jack replaced with popular RCA famale, gold plated jack for iPod adapter or phono input. IPOD ADAPTER IS NOT included in this listing. An iPod adapter is highly recommended to protect your low voltage digital device (iPod, iPhone) from the high voltages inside this vintage tube radio. This is one of the largest Grundigs ever produced. The huge glass scale requires three bulbs to illuminate. It has several vacuum tubes, four speakers and four bands. The cabinet is in very nice condition with its low profile design and original finish. The metal grilles and back cover are all excellent. There is a bit of separation on one corner of the cabinet which is likely easily fixed. There is a 1/2 chip of veneer on top front edge and a smaller chip on the right top side. I put a bit of wood putty on this but the purist may want to see what can be done to repair these chips. A power switch has been added so power is not always on and so unit can be left plugged in. This extends out of the back cover and doesn’t really look great but this can also be easily removed. The decorative material behind the grill is aged and has dust on it and has slipped in a couple places. I imagine these could be replaced, cleaned or turned the other side out possibly. Some crazing of the finish but overall a very beautiful unit. Great sound, knobs are tight and solid feeling. Reception on many channels. No humming and no smoke odor. More pictures will be added later and are also available upon request. This unit is approximately 28″W x 14″H x 12D and 43 pounds packed. A great piece which has given our family hours of nostalgic pleasure. These covers are based on the original covers which was used mostly in the 50s and 60s on the transport way from factory to radio dealer, to protect the fresh polished varnish.
