This is an extremely clean Drake transceiver. It came from an estate where it was packaged away in deep storage, presumably not used in many years. There’s hardly a scratch on the cabinet and the faceplate is flawless. Take a look at the pictures and I think you’ll agree. Also included is the original user manual. From what we can tell, the radio is all original. We’re not experts on Drake gear, but all components look original and we see no obvious modifications. The bad news is that we don’t currently have a working Drake power supply in the shop, and even if we did, I’m not sure we’d want to power it up. Given that it hasn’t been used in years, possibly decades, it’s almost a certainty that it’s going to need some work. You should count on the need to replace some capacitors, possibly some tubes, etc. Once up and running, this will be one of the finest TR-4CW’s out there! Drake T-4XC Vintage Tube Ham Radio Transmitter w/ Manual LATE SN 26273. This transmitter is in fantastic condition. Costmetically, it’s probably the nicest we’ve seen, at least on the outside. The cabinet doesn’t have a scratch on it and the faceplate is just as nice. The chassis does show a little age, but it’s still better than most. The sale also includes the original user manual and interconnect cables. The rig operates just as well as it looks. We got about 100 watts out, which is about what you would expect. Overall, this is one of the nicest T-4XC units available on the market today! Combine this with the late serial number I think they went up to 30,000? , and you have a collector quality transmitter. Lastly, just to be clear, I want to point out that the AC-4 power supply is not included. Please realize that this is a vintage piece of equipment, and unless specifically noted above, it has not been fully restored with new components. The switches, pots, and contacts were all cleaned at that time. Also, the PTO was cleaned and lubricated. In 2015, a NOS faceplate was installed, along with knobs. The cabinet isn’t perfect and has been repainted, but the clean face makes up for this in my opinion. It works well will full output.
