This receiver is in good cosmetic condition, but does have two small issues on the front panel. First, there’s a scratch near the BFO-FREQUENCY control. Secondly, someone had installed a power switch near the headphone jack. Aside from that, it looks good. All controls turn smoothly. This one will make a great restoration candidate or parts unit! This piece of equipment is believed to have not been used in years (possibly decades). It will almost certainly need some level of service. This may include: replacement of electrical components (such as capacitors, resistors, diodes, tubes, etc), cleaning of controls, alignment, and so forth. This is a very nice vintage transceiver. From what we can tell, it’s all original with no modifications. Cosmetically, it looks good with little wear. This is a very rare radio package that was made at the time of the famous “Kenwood Twins” and appears to be all working and in decent condition. OK, I have had LOTS of questions on this radio pertaining to its condition. So, let me give some additional detail. All of the nomenclature on the faceplate is good. There are no scratches or gouges in the faceplates. Other than some dust that has gotten into the inside of the display glass, the cosmetics look good. The radio is working so all the internal connections appear to be good. The inside of the radio could use a good cleaning and might have been in a smoker’s shack. The interior surfaces are all accessible and should easily clean up with windex and a cloth. Controls and switches have been cleaned some time ago. Bottom line, this rare radio package is a great candidate for a very easy restoration that will require your time for cleaning and some alignment.
