Up for sale is this 1930s Marshall 6-tube radio. It is in working condition (see video). The dial is wonderfully stylized with its various colors and brass surround. The knobs are wooden and turn / function smoothly. The cabinet is in excellent condition, with only minor wear. The are no chips, deep scratches or stains on the finish. Vintage, made in the USA in 1937! The dial light does not come in but the radio reception is decent here in Seattle, WA. No cracks in the case, but there are a few scuffs/knicks. Nothing major at all considering this radio’s age+.

Known for its quality and craftsmanship, Philco radios are highly sought after by collectors of vintage radios. This particular model offers a touch of nostalgia and historical significance, making it a valuable addition to any collection of vintage electronics. All capacitors have been replaced. The capacitors which were originally inside the Bakelite enclosures were removed and the enclosures re-stuffed with new capacitors. The “metal can” electrolytic capacitors were bypassed with new ones on the underside of the chassis. The radio receives and plays well using a long wire antenna attached to the “Ant” terminal, as these old radios did not come with a built-in antenna. The cabinet has been refinished using dark walnut stain and a topcoat of clear polyurethane. The grille fabric has been replaced also. The speaker had a tear in the paper cone which has been repaired. (glued) The speaker sounds good. The cord has been replaced at some point and is in good condition. I picked this radio up as a project to repair and refinish. I’ve enjoyed repairing and refinishing it and now it’s time for someone else’s enjoyment. (approximately 90 years old).

Will need an antenna and while gorgeous as it is. Needs the glass and frame around the tuner on front. Beautiful wood – fully functioning piece of history – no back plate. The wood on this piece is amazing absolutely beautiful. Also for its size it is very heavy. This is nearly 100 years old – not yet but approaching – it’s 90% fully restored and has been loved. Item will be packaged with care.

The binder is personalized to the original owner, L. Tompkins, adding to its historical appeal as a genuine working technician’s reference rather than a later reprint. Approximately 11.5″ x 9.5″.
