Vintage Zenith Model 9-S-367 “Zephyr” radio chassis, with the shutter/robot dial that is in working condition. Unfortunately, the tuning band is missing, so it will need to be replaced in order to get the mechanism to function properly. I did not try the Police or Shortwave bands. The unit is always in the “on” position, so it will need work so that it can turn off. The shutter dial functioned properly. The power cord is in poor condition – taped in spots and will need to be replaced. Chassis is very clean and free of rust and corrosion. Right side push button mechanism is also included, but some buttons are missing. Do not hesitate to make an offer, all will be considered.

The cabinet is made out of a hard black plastic polished to a very nice shine, cabinet was originally white see the last picture. The dial glass is a reproduction the graphics are very clean and crisp. The following was done to give the radio a new life. All tubes tested weak and bad tubes replaced. Filter capacitors replaced with a new modern equivalent. Old wax capacitors replaced with a new modern equivalent. Resistors checked and out of tolerance resistors replaced. Wiring inspected replaced bad wires or re coated. Protective coating applied to the speaker to reduce decay. Cleaned volume control with contact cleaner. Lubed knobs and tuning capacitors bearings. Nice hard to find small radio, one of the last tube type radios before transistors took over the market, and one of the few tube radios made this small only a little under 6 inches wide! , made to fit in a coat pocket. It is in good shape but has some flaws, the thick white plastic is somewhat yellowed and has a crack along the lower left side and goes just a bit up the front corner and has some small chips on the inside lip of the back cover (chips not visible when radio cover is in place). Also missing one of the little metal clips that holds the handle on. Reverse painted trim on the front of the radio looks good and so does the round tuning dial. Overall a pretty example of this rare radio that seldom turns up. It uses unusual batteries that I do not have (there is a plastic shell to one of the original battery still in the radio to display with it), but I don’t have any batteries for it, so I did not test the radio (battery terminals have some rust but not too bad). Rare vintage Silvertone Model 3151 “Zephyr” Radio that is in good working condition. Radio receives stations quite readily with minimal background noise. White plastic body is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks and minor paint loss and discoloration. Power cord is in good condition as well. Unfortunately the plastic dial cover is missing, as well as the back panel. Both wheel dials function properly. Adorable little radio that will be a fine addition to your collection.
