A hard-to-come-by ivory colored Plaskon 1941 Remler 5100″Scottie” model tube radio. The case has 2x hairline cracks about a couple of inches long where the handle is, common with these models. It turns on and lights up but no stations can be tuned into. These were made in San Francisco, and the dial shows California-specific stations of the era. Measures 11″w x 8″d x 6h. Nice All original example!

Powers on and produces sound but does not tune to stations – likely needs capacitors. Radio is a very cool piece of MCM history. Was made by Motorola in 1957 in Chicago. The antenna is inside the radio. There is a small spot on the top of the radio where the plastic has oxidized, shown in photos. This radio is listed for repair. Someone with more technical knowledge-how than me can definitely get this working correctly again.

This is the desirable suitcase-style portable with the large world map inside the lid, telescoping antenna, and multiband dial layout that made these Hallicrafters sets so distinctive. Research indicates the TW-1000 is an 8-band tube portable covering standard broadcast, longwave, and multiple shortwave bands. Period references describe it as a 5-tube superheterodyne design with operation from household current or batteries, making it one of Hallicrafters’ more collectible portable world-band radios from the era. Radio works and sounds very good. Receives and plays well. The dial/face light is currently out and will need replacement. Honest vintage cosmetic wear consistent with age and use. Scuffs, edge wear, and finish wear to the exterior cabinet. Carry handle shows visible wear/aging. Knobs and front trim show age-related discoloration and wear. Please review all photos carefully for exact cosmetic condition. About the Light / Bulb. The dial light is not currently working. This radio will need a pilot/dial bulb replacement.
