Here is a RCA Radiola Special from 1923 made by Wireless Specialty Apparatus Co. The radio is in a fitted case, I think this must be custom made for it a long time ago for portability. It has a built in antenna in the lid and storage compartments for batteries and headphones. The external battery posts are wired up and I powered her up that way, the wires can easily be routed to the battery compartment. We have another at 1420 but I could not get that one, the radio may not tune that high? The variometer turns freely and a new grid leak resister is installed. The only thing I have done to this radio is wire up the battery posts. Please check the pictures they will show it off well. The case measures 16″ x 10 1/2″ x 7 1/2.

This 1956 ASTOR Model “Special Five” Australian-made. Radio is in Very Good Visual Condition, exactly as it appears in the Photos. It is pretty Clean inside-out. There is a small crack in the join on top of the Set, which is not visible when the two Cabinet halves are joined. Also, there is some fading on the Artwork of the clear plastic Front Panel/Face. The location of the ring-fade corresponds with the circumference of the Speaker. Operationally, it is has been tested and is working quite well. It has good Sensitivity across the whole MW Band, and it. Receives Stations at a much stronger level when the white Antenna Wire is touched. The received Stations’ Sound is Clear and Full-bodied, but there is some crackling present, so there may possibly be need of an alignment or Capacitor replacement. That said, it is a pleasure to listen to, with the Tone Control working. The Radio has sufficient Volume, and t. He Dial Lamp illuminates the Station Dial well. Restored electrically , working perfect! Signs of age and use on the cabinet, varnishing is chipping off on some areas, chassis is facilely rusty. Typical design of the 1950ies. This radio has been restored electrically and optically. In that period I got a lot of experience with these radios. THIS RADIO IS WORKING PERFECT, GREAT SOUND AND RECEIPT! But it has signs of age and use! Varnishing is chipping off on some areas – see fotos! Also chassis is rusty, but this does not affect any functionality. Whole radio has a lot of history and patina. Please have a look at the fotos, it looks great, anyway, and will be of course an eyecatcher in your living room. Very good, but aged. The dial glass is mint! This radio has 2 full band speaker (greencones) in front and 2 tweeters to the left and right for full 3D sound. The chassis has been restored electrically. The tubes are new or used in mint condition. Magic eye EM80 is NEW. All bad capacitors are changed , the mechanic is working perfect. The switches are in good working condition. All knobs and keys are original. The chassis itself is cleaned as good as possible but rusty. This rust is on surface of metal and does not affect any functionality. Are all in excellent working condition. There are following tubes inside. EC92 , EC92 , ECH81 , EF85 , EABC80 , EL84 , EZ80 , EM80. The filters were adjusted using a Grundig AS5 test transmitter. Fantastic sound, a lot of bass and clear highs! Perfect receipt on FM. The radio is factory prepaired to work on 220-240 VAC.
