It still has the original finish on the cabinet and the photos tell the rest of the story – graceful, yet stunning in how well preserved it is. The cabinet was cleaned and given two hand rubbed coats of high quality wax to bring out the beauty of the veneers. And, to top it off, it sounds great too, with tone control for your listening preference. With six tubes, the sensitivity and reception is very good. The cabinet has absolutely no damage, though the original finish has some areas with very fine crazing that does not detract from the comeliness of this radio. It has the original knobs and dial, which still has crisp and clean numbers/graphics. The grill cloth is an older replacement that very closely resembles the original. The power cord was replaced with cloth covered modern wire, using the original Bakelite plug. The chassis has been cleaned and restored, with all paper and electrolytic capacitors replaced. Tubes, condensers and other components were replaced as needed. The radio was aligned, peaked and tuned for optimal reception using an external short antenna wire (provided). If you want a fine representation of a mid 1930′s cathedral radio that still has its well cared for original finish, this one’s for you. Listening to it as darkness approaches, the soft glow of the dial bring thoughts of all the stories and music this radio has broadcast.
