Working refurbished RCA model 9-X-561 radio from around 1949. Unit was disassembled, cleaned and electronic components checked and replaced as needed. Unit was reassembled with a new AC power cord. Unit was tested for a few hours in radio and phono play modes. Has PLENTY of volume and sounds great. Radio Dial lights up with working bulbs at each end. Cracks repaired (glued) at lower right & left front corners of case – SEE PICS. Not an absolute museum piece but a very respectable working example of one of the most popular and recognizable RCA radios of the period. No gypo games played here. Vintage Refurbished 5 Tube Crosley Radio. 110-120 V, 30 wats.

Work that was recently done includes. All electrolytic and paper caps replaced. Many out-of-spec resistors replaced. Selenium rectifier replaced with modern silicon diode plus power resistor. This model T601 Pilotuner is an FM receiver only, without an audio amplifier or speaker. It is designed to connect to your separate audio amplifier just like any line level component. For your consideration , here’s a nice old Century 4-78 four-tube cathedral radio from, I would guess, somewhere around 1932, which is the year it was designed. I’m fairly sure it will be a quite a while before you’ll see another one due to the scarce information available related to it. Apparently the Century Company in Chicago was a contractor that produced radios for other companies. I replaced two tubes and worked on the cabinet and replaced the grill cloth and the two mismatched non-original knobs with two matched non-original knobs. I couldn’t locate a picture of this model to see what the original grill cloth and knobs looked like. The controls work just as they should. The green dial graphic is original. Please look over the pictures carefully to make sure the condition of the radio is acceptable to you. 15″ H x 12″ W x 9 D. AC, 10″ Wide, 14″ Tall, 8 Deep. There is not any Internet information on this radio or its manufacture. The circuitry is of an old design which uses tube numbers 58, 58 47 & 80. My guess is that it was made in 1931 or earlier. The dial numbers go from 0 to 100, with 0 being at 1600Khz and 100 at 540Khz. The radio receives stations well from 1600 to 900Khz, below this will need a longer antenna wire. This radio was repaired, aligned and tested by Toms Antique Radio Repair. It was run contentiously for many hours to make sure that it will last a long time for you. All the power supply and signal capacitors have been replaced. A 1.5 amp fast blow fuse was added for your protection. This is a nice looking and working radio with a unknown history. My guess is that it is very rare.

The gold dial is beautiful when lit. The ON/OFF knob is also the tone control, with separate knobs for volume, station selection and band selection. Cabinet, 6 speaker, grill, dial, knobs and back are all original. The crystal clear dial cover is a replacement. 14″ W x 9″ H x 7 D, 10 lbs.
