Incredibly unique designed Stromberg Carlson 228 radio. I wish I knew the story of this radio, cannot find another one like it! Decorated with what looks like wooden matchsticks and a wooden carved heart on top, this person did an incredible job… Some wear all around including some flaking and missing wood, knobs are missing, some tears in the black mesh, wear on the plug in cord, inside contents are loose. I did plug it in and it started working, but then a fuse blew so I immediately unplugged from the wall. I assume the speaker is no longer good as well. Would be an absolutely incredible piece to restore!

Cabinet: The Art Deco designed cabinet is just stunning. Done in a Red Mahogany, the darker toned edges really add depth and elegance. The protruding face, housing the dial and knobs, really catches your eye with its beautiful swirling burl and pinstripe inlays. Definitely one of the most attractive table radios of it’s era. Black trim and a duel grill finish off this Art Deco masterpiece with the utmost style and class. The radio is roughly 19″ wide, 12″ high and 12 deep. The cardboard backing was not present when I obtained this radio. The woodwork on the radio cabinet is some of the nicest I’ve seen. Brown marbled bakelite with SOLID COPPER dial plate. Condition: THE SOLID COPPER DIAL PLATE LOOKS GREAT. BOTH ORIGINAL MARBLED BAKELITE KNOBS ARE STILL THERE. The cord is in good shape with no exposed wire. The body is in good shape as seen in pictures. No cracks, scratches, or chips. The wood back is no longer with the radio. The insides will need some cleaning and have some rust. All of the tubes appear to be there. These radios are highly collectable and are getting harder to find online. Vintage 1920′s Jensen Full Range Table Top Tube Radio Speaker. I cannot find a model number, only a “Manufactured by Jensen” sticker with last patent in 1926. Unfortuneately I do not have a way to test it. The driver looks to be in excellent condition. Cables are a bit of a mess but I’m sure could easily be fixed/sorted out. Cabinet shows plenty of wear, as pictured. Speaker weighs about 25lbs. Dimensions are 15 1/2″ wide x 12″ deep x 14 /12 high. This came from the Estate of my late Father.
