Vintage 1938 Packard Bell 100A Hi-Lo Radio Pair Deco Tube Project. Vintage 1938 Packard Bell Model 100A “Hi-Lo” radios – a matched pair of classic West Coast Deco sets with that unmistakable green dial and sculpted louver front. Manufactured in Los Angeles, these compact AC/DC sets were designed for strong reception in urban environments and are a favorite among collectors for their clean Art Deco styling and Plaskon cabinets. Both sets retain their original tube lineups (12SA7, 12SK7, 12SQ7, 50L6, 35Z5 configuration typical for the model) and appear largely untouched internally – exactly what restorers want to see. These radios hum when powered on, indicating transformers and filament strings are active, but no stations are currently received. They will require servicing and recapping before reliable use. This is a Vintage KELLOGG Switchboard and Supply Company radio. It has a number on the tag, but it I’m not sure it’s relevant. Regardless, the number is D 40973. It has 5 Bakelite Dials and 5 vacuum Tubes. I don’t know anything about this radio. It came from an estate where I believe the gentleman had passed away. It looks like he had started to restore this as the cabinet has been restored. It has a nice finish and looks pretty good but has a few original nicks and slight warping, to the lid especially Also, the guts of the radio look like they’ve been restored. Measures about 23 1/4″ long, 9 1/2″ tall, and 11 3/4 front to back.

This vintage Firestone AIR CHIEF, model 4-A-23, is a rare find for collectors. With its classic design and historical significance, it’s sure to be a conversation piece in any room.
