This is a very early 75S-1, serial number 178. Aside from the serial number, you can also tell this is an early unit by the “ribbed” design of the meter’s bezel. The faceplate looks good and appears to be all original, however the cabinet has been repainted (somewhat crudely). The power cord has been replaced and fixed in place, although we’re not sure how as we haven’t removed the receiver from the cabinet. The bad news is that the receiver has problems. It receives no signal whatsoever, even from the crystal calibrator. On top of that, whenever you tap the cabinet or chassis, you get a ringing tone. The sound is similar to what you’d hear from a microphonic tube. However, we don’t think a tube is causing the problem.
