Vintage tube Radio Emerson 540 rare Red Plaskon not Catalin not Painted Working. This is a rare Emerson 540 from 1947 this was called the midget Emersonette. This radio came in four colors Ivory brown Bakelite green and red, the red and green radios are harder to find and these cases were very fragile made with Plaskon plastic as a result few have survived, nearly impossible to find without cracks or chips. This radio is not painted and is a original red Emerson 540. The radio does have hairline cracks on the bottom please see photos there are 2 hairlines in each corner coming from the screw area and two other hairline cracks I thought or scratches until I took the chassis out and inspected. There are no visible cracks or hairlines on the top-or front or sides making it a perfect displayable radio. The radio has been electronically restored and works great I was able to tune in many stations without harm or static, speaker has no cracks and vertical tuning scale slides well up and down the scale, looks like the original grill cloth has been replaced it does have the original knobs and original white paint from the Emerson logo is still there and visible Electrical cord has been replaced. Well double box this fragile radio very carefully.

1948 – RCA RCA Victor Co. 6 tubes, 12BA6, 12BE6, 12BA6, 12AT6, 35C5, 35W4. AC/DC SET – 115 Volt. The radio measures approximately. 12.7 X 8 X 7.2 inches. Cylinder players & cylinders. I removed the chassis so you could see what shape it is in. I think you’ll agree it is a nice radio at a fair price. Don’t wait until the last minutes as I may not be able to get you an answer. My shop is full of LED lights and I must turn them off because they interfere with reception. Some static also was heard when tuning through the dial. The electrolytics have not been replaced and all the old paper caps remain in place. All is original as best I can determine. Please see the pictures. The case is good condition, I saw no breaks or cracks in the case. The repainted cabinet looks good and the dial lens is clear. The vent is taped to the cabined inside and the paint has nicks and scratches as seen in the pictures. The chassis is clean and shows no rust. The on/off volume works properly. The tuning throughout the dial works well with no binding up. The dial string is in place and works well. The dial rotates to a mark at the top and bottom of the clear lens to indicate station selection. Please examine all the pictures closely. The power cord is in good condition and looks to be original to the radio. The loop antenna is in good shape and is attached to the chassis and comes out of the case with the chassis. The speaker is in good condition. Even though this radio is working at the present time one needs to remember that this radio is. With all original electrical parts. It should not be used as a daily player unless serviced. I use new boxes and new and recycled packing materials unless noted otherwise. This radio is wrapped in bubble wrap. Boxed in a new box with packing material to hold the radio securely. I double boxed this radio in another box as carefully as I know how. I want the radio to arrive safely to you in one piece as you see in the pictures. The outer box is 16×12 x12 inches and weighs 12 lbs.
