A vintage (c1948 per the Radio Museum website) promotional radio for General Tires! Features a model General Jumbo Jr. Tire atop a wooden base. Not sure if this was a promotional piece or an employee anniversary gift? I powered the radio on through a variac and it does come on. I got static only for about a minute and then when the tubes were warmed up, I was able to get a couple stations to come on! It is still a bit staticky and the volume knob doesn’t make a huge difference in the volume playing, so it seems like it could use some service. It looks like the white paint on the tire’s writing was put on by a previous owner/is not original. There are scuffs, scratches, and discoloration spots throughout. The wooden base’s sides have remnants of some sort of adhesive stuck to it. There’s dust buildup in the crevices of the tire’s treading. As shown, so please view photos! At furthest points, piece measures approximately 12 3/4″ wide, 4 3/4″ front-to-back, and 13 tall. The “not as described” return option is not to be used to resolve damaged item cases.
