The whole unit was completely refurbished with the capacitors and resistors replaced, as well as a new power switch and a period appropriate cloth covered power cord. Fresh from a local estate that had hundreds of radios, this is a rare, circa 1940 Brewster Model B-10, pre-WWII FM Tuner that is a great candidate for restoration. All of the tubes are new old stock – just installed and tested good. Unit features 8 tubes and it used the Armstrong Frequency Band with a range of 42-50, which was later changed to 88-108 in 1945. Cosmetically, the unit is in excellent condition, with the original finish simply cleaned and polished with a professional wood wax. The original cloth power cord is in good condition, with some fraying. Both knobs turn smoothly and properly and the dial indicator functions properly as well. Vintage 1920′s era Atwater Kent Model 37 radio that is in working condition. The crinkle paint finish is in very good condition, with minor paint loss along the edges of the bottom and right side. Both knobs turn smoothly and properly. The original cloth power cord is in fair condition, with some frayed sections. I would suggest replacing the cord if the unit is to be used. Interior is very clean with no evidence of rust. Also included is an old business card that was inside the radio from M. Wade – Radio Sales – Service. The shop was located at 88 Appleton St, Boston, Mass. On the reverse of the card, it has the following statement: We the undersigned guarantee this radio to be in A-1 order. If any part or parts that we have replaced or repaired should show any fault we will replace same free of charge. Great early piece that is a must have for your collection.
