Up for sale is a. Rare, Amazingly Cool, Fully Functional, Vintage (1953) Zenith L505 – Portable (Battery or AC/DC) Bakelite Tube Radio, with Wave Magnet! The detachable “Wave-Magnet” antenna is definitely the highlight of this maroon Zenith portable from 1953, and it will add that “coolness” factor to your collection. Everything on this unit is original, and it works perfectly!! This is without question one of the, if not the, finest L505(‘s) in existence! The combination of the condition and the rarity of this radio is really something special!! This particular model is rare, but I have seen a few of them floating around lately, for sale…… However, out of the 3 or 4 that I’ve seen, none of them have been working, nor are in anywhere near this nice of cosmetic condition! This is your chance to get your hands on a rare, classic, early 50′s tube radio, in stunning, all original condition! Powers on, All Knobs/ Dials are Present and Working, Able to Receive Strong Signal, Speaker Sounds Great. Tubes Seem Strong (although unsure because I don’t have a tube tester). Bakelite Cabinet cabinet has a good shine, and is free of cracks and chips, with just some light wear marks here and there. The perforated aluminum speaker grille is clean and free of scratches, with only a few very faint depressions. Placard is pretty close to perfect! Even the power cord is original and is in perfect condition! Also even includes the original screws and hardware…. The only tiny blemishes that kept this radio from being listed as mint condition are a few very small, minor scratches, that you can only even see if you look very closely. Also, one more quick note: I didn’t actually have the unit running off of a battery… I know that it CAN be powered off of a battery, but I was unable to figure out what battery to use… I’ll leave that up to the new owner… The unit does function perfectly when plugged in!
