Fresh from a local estate that had hundreds of radios, this is a rare, circa 1940 Brewster Model B-10, pre-WWII FM Tuner that is a great candidate for restoration. All of the tubes are new old stock – just installed and tested good. Unit features 8 tubes and it used the Armstrong Frequency Band with a range of 42-50, which was later changed to 88-108 in 1945. Cosmetically, the unit is in excellent condition, with the original finish simply cleaned and polished with a professional wood wax. The original cloth power cord is in good condition, with some fraying. Both knobs turn smoothly and properly and the dial indicator functions properly as well. It was part of an large radio collection. The tuner did power on and the backlit dial light worked. I do not have the proper equipment to test this piece any further. The wood cabinet is nice and solid and the original finish looks really nice. There are some minor imperfections like you might expect on a piece from this era. I believe that this is 100% original except, perhaps, the AC power cord. The tuner has been in storage for many years so I’m sure that it could use a good/thorough cleaning.
