The 1949 Automatic Radio Tom Thumb Buddy Portable Tube Radio from Boston is a vintage collectible item that is sure to appeal to radio enthusiasts and collectors alike. Manufactured by the Automatic Radio Manufacturing Co. Of Boston, MA, famous for the “Tom Thumb” series of radios. The “Tom Thumb” name fits perfectly, as radios made by the company are some of the smallest radios ever made. This vertical portable set is a classic example. It has a wooden case covered in imitation reptile leatherette with brown tenite trim. The chassis is a four-tuber and can be operated on AC or battery power. The measurements are” 11.5″x5″x5″ inches While this radio is not rare – it is still very difficult to find one in good condition – as the case is in good used condition, can be cleaned up easily and has no major cosmetic flaws. The leather handle on the top is in good condition, and the front and back latches work fine. This model has an on/off. All the knobs are original and the cord is hidden inside the door.

How cool is this. Hard to find model P-64 from Automatic Radio Co. I believe it is from the 1940′s but could be early 1950′s – Comes with the instructions on all the parts and how to order – Original Batteries but I would not trust them at this time. The cord to plug in is a little firm but not brittle yet – in ok to good working condition. The video was from my basement and signal might be an issue. But during testing I did find 2 station that came in clear. The handle is in good shape and very useable – Just a great addition to your decor or collection. When plugged it automatically is on and I don’t want to break anything to turn the knob to much to turn it off. This portable Automatic radio was designed for taking on a picnic or a boat trip. It features an attractive two-tone leatherette case with gold colored accents. It was meant to be powered by two 4 1/2 Volt “A” batteries and two 45 Volt “B” batteries which are no longer made. It can still be powered using an AC power cord. It plays loud and and on the 2 stations fairly clear. This is an affordable addition to your vintage radio collection. The radio measures 13.5″ x 7″ x 5. This is a used item so minor signs of wear should be expected. Any additional notes specific to this item are listed above. Vintage Luxury German Grundig Automatic 4040W/3D Majestic Klang Tube Radio. An awesome vintage radio. Brings in local FM stations clearly and sounds nice. I do not know a whole lot about the radio. The local FM comes in nicely on UKW1 and UKW2 settings. Whenever I switch the motor switch below the sender the tuner goes all the way to the left of the radio and it doesn’t do anything else. When I switch it back to the right “aus” it becomes a normal tuning knob again. The volume knob works. The bass knob works. The honer knob works. The Antenna knob still works. The on/ off power switch works as well. Overall the cabinet is in good shape with some cosmetic wear including discoloration of the finish. Comes with a cloth cover.
