As you can see by the video, it does dial in a station. I’d recommend if you want more stations to add a grounded antenna to it. There also is a linear repair on the top of the box, so there is one repaired angel hair present. I pack items extremely well to insure they make it safely to their destination. Butterscotch Catalin ADDISON Courthouse Radio Working Vintage. Up for sale is a very impressive yellow/butterscotch Addison tube radio from the 1940s in cosmetically wonderful shape. Prior to shooting it, I had not noticed that the last vertical bar on the right had slid over to the left and it should be re-glued into position as in photo #. The knobs and bars are all of a deep burgundy color (closer to photo # 11). The cloth over the speaker (which is in very fine condition) should also be straightened and re-glued. Whatever streaks you might see on the outside is marbleizing in the Catalin, and there are no visible cracks in the case – except on the INSIDE floor (see photos 9 & 10). However, these do NOT show on the bottom’s exterior. (Such cracks form over time due to the shrinkage of the Catalin, while the chassis remained the same). The radio has its original cord and several stations can be heard clearly, but with some static between each. As with all my radios it is electrically sound – the tubes are strong and all of the capacitors have been replaced and the cord has been replaced with an utilizes a polarized plug. This radio was originally painted white when I stripped it and found a pristine a peanut butter coloured cabinet. It has a small pink dot on the top the resulted when the cabinet was manufactured. No other marks, scrapes or scratches. Except for the changed electronics and paint, this radio is all original it even has its original antenna wire with holder. Its astounding to find one in this wonderful condition that why it was in my personal collection. It features deco styling, three pinwheel knobs, logos still present on the bottom and the original dial is still very clear. It measures: 10 across, 5 wide and 5.75 high. These sets came in catalin and wood but the wood version seems to be hardest to find. These radios are well known for their stylish Art Deco design that perfectly reflect the era. If you know radios, youll know that these sets are highly sought after and keep climbing in price. This radio is entirely useable and displays beautifully. Cabinet looks to have been refinished with replacement of grill cloth and decal. The knobs are all present with their felt washers. That said, as is the case in most 80 year old radios, it has some cons. The original field coil speaker has been replaced with a permanent magnet type and the field coil mounted to the replacement speakers frame. It has a slight garble at low volumes that straightens out when the volume is increased. The mounting holes on the cabinets bottom have sustained some damage in the past which cant be seen unless you remove the two mounting screws. It looks to have been recapped and a number of resistors replaced. If I had performed the work, it would have been a bit tidier. Either way, they dont come around often so heres your chance to own a rare gem. It installs simply with two screws and a detailed tube layout will be included.
