This item is a vintage RCA “New Yorker” Model 5Q55 walnut bakelite tube table radio from approximately 1938. Design: It features a molded cabinet designed by John Vassos. It does turn on but does radio does not connect. (With the cords being exposed it was probably a poor choice to plug it in to test it, but I did it anyway). It is highly recommended to replace the electrical wiring before plugging it in again, it could be dangerous. This radio will require some work, wiring and such to get it working again. The body is in excellent condition though. It is a beautiful piece! There are some white paint speckles on the top, I was able to remove a few of them with a damp rag very carefully, but there are still a few dots there. I just got tired and didn’t do the rest, sorry! Dimensions: Approximately 13.5″ wide, 9.3″ tall and 8.7 deep, and weighs 15 pounds & 1 oz. Please see photos for more details and thanks for looking!

Not sure about the model. Both look the same to me. I think it was repainted because the RCA logo is missing from the front. It works but staticy between stations. The tuner may need cleaning. Not sure the rear cover belongs to this radio.

RCA Victor 5Q55 Tube Radio. Made in the USA. Tested and working, tunes into channels here in Seattle, WA. Dial light turns in, as pictured. On the top of the outer case there is a hairline crack, as pictured and pointed to. Not a common model to find! Has lots of life left! Thanks for considering &####128578. For sale is this vintage RCA Victor radio. The radio tube lights up when plugged in but I do not hear any sound. It is in good condition for its age. There are no chips, cracks or breaks in the plastic. I will be listing a number of other radios/cbs and test equipment over the next few weeks so be sure to check out my other listings.

The beautiful eye catching design allows the dial to be easily viewed. With five tubes and tone control for your listening preference, it has excellent reception on all three bands using an external antenna wire lead. The cabinet is dark chocolate with black swirls and is in excellent condition with no damage whatsoever. The cabinet was disassembled and cleaned, then polished to a super smooth and shiny luster. The glass dial face has crisp and clear graphics that are nicely lighted. The polished knobs and the grill cloth are original. The power cord has been replaced, using the original plug. Electronically, the chassis was restored, cleaned and serviced, with all paper/wax and electrolytic capacitors replaced with new ones. Tubes and resistors were replaced as needed. All controls and contacts were detail cleaned and lubricated. Wiring and other components were replaced as needed. The radio was aligned, peaked and tuned for optimal reception and quality of sound using the external antenna wire lead. At 80 years old but newly restored, this beautiful piece of history will last another 80 years if well cared for. It will be a great addition for the collector, or as an accent or even a focal point of your decor. Dimensions: 13×9.5×8.5. Note: Tube radios consist of a variety of vacuum tubes, capacitors, resistors and other electronic components. This radio has been disassembled, cleaned, and components tested. All non-functioning or suspect components were replaced. Vacuum tubes are similar to light bulbs in that an interior filament heats up inside the vacuum tube. When the filament burns out, the tube will need to be replaced. The tubes in this radio are in good working order. The longevity of the tube and its filaments is related to the length of time the radio is operated and the frequency of turning the radio power on and off.
