These were made with an integral finned heatsink to allow increased power output. Sylvania supplied both PNP (2N68) and NPN (2N95) transistors with similar characteristics, and this allowed substantial flexibility in circuit design, especially for audio circuits that did not require expensive or bulky transformers. The characteristics and suggested circuits for these transistors is well documented in the 1955 Sylvania booklet ” 28 Uses for Junction Transistors”. The Sylvania type 2N101 (supplied without a finned heatsink) is equivalent to the 2N68, and the 2N102 is equivalent to the 2N95.

Vintage Sylvania model 519 tube radio tested working (1956 – 1957 era). Stylish mid century radio in very clean excellent condition. Vintage Sylvania Tube Radio Clock. Model 598 Panelescent 1950′s. Radio does not come on at all. “Panelescent” clock face, which glows in the dark with a brightness that is adjustable by means of a black knob on the back of the Radio. This is Model 5C12. Radio works and so does clock. We did not check the alarm though. It is in good used vintage working condition with some age and use wear. I believe these are from 1960 and it has a really great blue color to it. This tabletop radio and clock has a nice grill and knob. Knob needs a finer cleaning and has some wear to it. Plastic face on clock has some scratches and scuffs. There are very small areas that could use a deeper cleaning. Radio knob is also very loose. Edges of radio have some light age wear. I see some marks and scuffs but no cracks or chips. Cord has some dirt wear but no cracks and works as it should. Knob in the back to turn clock dial sits slightly askew but turns fine. It would be great to make this minty and maybe add bluetooth etc. It measures about 13″ x a little over 7″ tall. Please see photos for the best description! Sylvania 620 Vintage Tube Tester for Guitar or Radio Tubes w/ Manual. This is a neat little tester. The outer case is a little dirty, but the inside of the tester really looks great. The manual is in good condition as well. I had never seen one of these testers before. After reading the manual, I can tell you that this tester is not the easiest to familiarize yourself with. The controls are not intuitive, and it takes some time to learn how to use it. However, we were able to successfully test a 6SN7GT. The needle was steady and reasonably accurate. Having said all that, this unit hadn’t been used in many years and would benefit from a calibration service. Please realize that this is a vintage piece of equipment, and unless specifically noted above, it has not been fully restored with new components. It will inevitably need maintenance, however it’s impossible to know whether that will be next week or a few years down the road. Unless you are capable of doing this work yourself (or have access to someone who can), we suggest you revisit the idea of whether this is the right equipment for you. It was part of an ENORMOUS radio collection. The radio does power on when plugged in and turned on and it plays nicely! I was able to tune in several stations here in central Indiana it was not hooked up to an external antenna. The dark turquoise & white cabinet gives this radio that super-cool Mid-Century Modern look! The molded plastic cabinet is nice and solid and the colors look very nice. I did not see any cracks, chips, etc. There are some minor imperfections like you might expect on a piece from this era. The tuning dial works well and the on/off/volume switch functions as it should. I believe that this is 100% original. As you can see from the pictures, the chassis looks clean but the radio has been in storage for many years so I’m sure that it could use a good/thorough cleaning. I do not have the proper equipment to test this piece any further. It measures approximately 12 1/2″ W by 4″ D and 6 1/2 H.
