When I plugged in and turn left knob, it turns on. I hear humming and screeching noise like a siren when I push any of the six wood buttons. The right knob turns, but DOES NOT MOVE THE NEEDLE ON THE RADIO. Cannot read the complete model number on back. Refer to photos on back and use your own judgment. Has scratches on the wood throughout. Missing one screw in the bottom, as seen in photos. 10 1/2 long x 8 3/4 high (bottom to top of wood handle) x 6 deep.

Detrola Wood Tabletop Tube Radio 212 Glowing Green Eye Vintage Art Deco 1939. X 7.5 tall. Following were not tested (as my tube tester is fairly simple and these do not appear in the guide). Original wood case is complete with minimal wear; finish has been given a light wax polish. The clear plastic face cover is intact, it curves out slightly and does not seem to have ever been forcefully depressed or bent. Cracks at the mid level from the left / right edges (which do not reach across fully). The fabric speaker cover not faded, not torn but a bit warped in the lowest section. Speaker appears to be original; not checked. Original power plug; replacement with a polarized / grounded plug is recommended. No back cover (which I suspect is as produced). Original schematic on bottom. The tuning knob causes the dial to turn smoothly, and the yellow face lights when on. No light from the green eye. No sound is produced. United States of America (USA). AC/DC-set / 105-125 Volt. Electro Magnetic Dynamic LS (moving-coil with field excitation coil). Table model, low profile (big size). A rescue from an estate in metro Detroit Michigan. Interesting vintage/estate items that were too nice to trash or give to a rummage sale. I want/hope they find new homes with appreciative owners/collectors. And by no means an? In books, silver, ceramics, comic books and so forth. So while I try to describe them in some detail and provide representative photos you will not see them with specific condition grades. Beautifully Deco styled Detrola radio dating to the 1930s. Untested and as found from a local estate. Original finish with only normal light surface wear and some dark spots on top… Even the cloth insulated power cord is in good condition. Obviously well cared for. No breaks or repairs. This is a rare radio that features an electronic tuning dial! The radio powers on when plugged in and turned on I was able to hear a loud hum. It was not hooked up to an external antenna. He backlit dial light works nicely and looks awesome when lit up! I pressed a couple of the tuning presets and the electronic tuning mechanism seemed to be working as it should be! He wood cabinet is nice and solid and the finish looks really nice. There are some minor imperfections like you might expect on a piece from this era. All of the various dials and switches seem to be working as they should be. As you can see from the pictures, the chassis looks clean but the radio has been in storage for many years so I’m sure that it could use a good/thorough cleaning. I do not have the proper equipment to test this radio any further. Please be sure to preview all of the pictures so that you can determine the condition for yourself. The pictures were taken later in the day so the flash kicked in! Just a FYI on why some of the pics look a little more shiny. Many of those radios got banged up quite a bit, but this particular one is still in excellent condition at 72 years old and is quite a find! The leatherette/vinyl covering over wood is still supple with good, deep hunter green color. No damage at all. The chrome face sort of speaks for itself with the reflected images in the photos. It has the original knobs and looks almost new. I say almost, because as with most of this model, the “Aria” stencil that was between the dial face and knobs was polished away at some point. It has a new replacement back panel. The chassis has been serviced and tested with all paper and electrolytic capacitors replaced. Tubes and resistors were replaced as needed. The electrical contacts and controls were detailed cleaned and lubricated. A new power cord and plug were installed. For Shortwave, a longer antenna wire will be needed. It will make a great display and conversation piece for many decors. Now that it is electronically restored, it will last for many more years of enjoyment.
