This is a nice Collins amplifier. It was acquired from a ham who is in the process of downsizing his massive collection. We’ve been playing with for about an hour now and have been pleased with it’s performance. It’s in good cosmetic condition with minimal wear; the faceplate looks very good. It has four new-production 811 tubes installed Chinese? , and keyed-down on 40 meters with 50 watts of drive we’re getting about 500 watts out. The amp is currently wired for 120VAC, and the power supply appears to be all original. A reproduction manual is included. However, there isn’t much room to work with on these 30L-1 amplifiers, and I simply cannot get the bottom tubes out. I apologize for this. I’ve placed layers of thin foam around all the tubes, so they should be OK. Just be sure to remove the foam and ensure all tubes are properly seated in their sockets before using the amplifier. The good news is that it has been tested in our shop, and we found good output on each band with 50 watts of drive: (80 meters 400 watts), (40 meters 350 watts), (20 meters 300+ watts), (15 meters 300+ watts), (10 meters 325 watts). The bad news reolves around cosmetics. The amp is missing the screws that attached the cabinet to the bezel. Also, the serial number tag was removed and glued to the screen covering the output tubes. The tubes included in the sale are all vintage USA tubes, with three being made by RCA and one made by Electronics Enterprises, Inc. We are also including an original 30L-1 manual, which is not original to the amp. Please realize that this is a. This is a used Collins 75S-3 winged emblem vintage ham radio receiver that works good, with good sensitivity, except there is a “buzz” (it is not 60 cycle hum) on the received signal it is not present when there is just static with no voice or cw.. You can hear the buzz on the calibrator signal or on a CW note or on SSB voice audio. The buzz is also present when you use the headphones. The buzz is present when in the crystal BFO or the tuneable BFO position.. The tuning works smooth and all controls including rejection tuning work and S meter works. It includes the power cord and a photocopy of the manual. The cabinet is in very good condition with almost no marks on it. The front panel is pretty good also with a couple minor flaws on the screen printing that you can see in the pictures.. The chassis is very clean, both SSB and CW filters are present. It looks like the electrolytics have been replaced (not sure about the triple can).. It is fantastic and takes up a lot less space. Frequency ranges: 3.4-3.6, 3.6-3.8, 3.8-4, 7-7.2, 7.2-7.4, 14-14.2, 14.2-14.4, 14.8-15, 21.2-21.4, 21.4-21.6, 28.5-28.7 MHz. Features include: S-Meter, Preselector, 100 kHz Crystal Calibrator 100 kHz, Rejection Tuning, AGC OFF/SLO/FST, BFO and Fiduciary Adjust. It has jacks for: Anti-Vox Jack, Sidetone Jack, Speaker and Mute. The 75S-3 matches the Collins 32S-3. 14.75 x 7.7 5x 12.5 inches 20 lbs. Used Collins 32S3 HF ham radio CW SSB transmitter. (matching transmitter for 75S series receivers, not included) serial number 13592, VFO turns smooth and free. “PA Tuning” label partially rubbed off (you can see in last pic). All controls and switches work. Winged emblem, I do not see any modifications or butchering. Some electrolytics have been replaced. RCA connectors in good condition. Breakin worked and relay switched good. Tuned up into a dummy load on 40 meters CW and listened on my TS830S and it sounded good. Pots may need cleaned. A thin line of gray paint is missing at the hinge on top (can not see in pic), no power supply, power supply cable or microphone included. Overall in pretty decent condition. The Collins 32S-3 is a high quality amateur band transmitter featuring CW, LSB and USB modes. 3.4-3.6, 3.6-3.8, 3.8-4, 7-7.2, 7.2-7.4, 14-14.2, 14.2-14.4, 14.8-15, 21-21.2, 21.2-21.4, 21.4-21.6 and 28.5-28.7 MHz plus 2 additional 200 kHz positions for 28-29.7 MHz and one additional position for a 200 kHz band in the 9.5-15 MHz range. Power input is 175 watts PEP on SSB, 160 watts on CW. Power output is 100 watts PEP nominal (slightly lower on 10 meters). Features include: multi-function meter. Crystal controlled high frequency oscillator, automatic load control, and a highly accurate analog display. Unlike the previous 32S-1. The 32S-3 features a CW spotting control which allows the 32S-3 frequency to be quickly adjusted to zero beat with the a signal tuned on the receiver. The 32S-3 matches the Collins 75S-3. Requires a power supply such as optional. 14.75 x 7 5x 11.8 inches 20 Lbs.
