This vintage 1938 Zenith Tabletop Tube Radio is beautifully designed! It would look great on display! Deep dark brown Bakelite case is molded into a streamlined, Art Deco silhouette. Measures 10.8″ x 6.8″ x 6.3. The Bakelite case is in good condition with a beautiful patina. There is a crack on the front of case to the left of the dial. There is also a scratch (not a crack) at the top left of case. The radio lights up and we can hear static. Plug and cord in good condition. They give a clear description of condition.. Vintage 1939 Streamlined Art Deco Admiral Tube Radio 20-A6 Pre-War Plastic Plaskon Urea. The streamlined Art Deco case. Is not bakelite but made of an unknown plastic. And could be Urea or Plaskon with a swirl and depth of colors not found on the darker colors. This cream color case is a very hard to find and. Scarce for this particular Admiral model. The dial is surrounded by a handsome brass bezel and the light shines nicely on the face while showing through the. Almost translucent plastics cream colored cabinet. In outstanding condition the case has some micro cracks above dial and on top they are very hard to see. And do not detract from the beauty. Of this vintage cabinet. Cracks seen on the bottom underside of the cabinet do not affect the integrity of this case. Carefully repaired to bring it back to excellent working condition. New wiring has replaced many of the old cracked insulated wires. Also a new old stock cap and 2 new replacement caps installed to bring this back to original specs. All 6 tubes tested very good or replaced with very good tested tubes. This is a very clean chassis please see photos for details of work. New rubber feet have been added to protect surfaces from chassis bolts. The original back was missing so a new vented back fashioned of. Has been installed to protect you and the components the original antenna is not. Plug added for protection. The sound quality of this radio is outstanding. Listen to it yourself on our. This Philco tabletop radio is in a nice Art Deco streamline style cabinet. It is a model #38-9 made circa 1939. Electronically tested, it receives well after warming up, having been restored at some time in the past and it may need an outside antenna and a good earth ground for anything other than nearby stations. The knobs are all original. The power cord is a replacement, as is the grille cloth. The pin-striping is good. Radio measures approximately 17″W x 11″H x 9D. An affordable mid century vintage vacuum tube radio receiver.
