Manufactured by the Automatic Radio Manufacturing Co. Of Boston, MA, famous for the “Tom Thumb” series of radios. The “Tom Thumb” name fits perfectly, as radios made by the company are some of the smallest radios ever made. This vertical portable set is a classic example. It has a wooden case covered in imitation reptile leatherette with brown tenite trim. The chassis is a four-tuber and can be operated on AC or battery power. All the tubes and capacitors have been changed. While this radio is not rare – it is still very difficult to find one in good condition – as the case is in good used condition, with no major cosmetic flaws. The leather handle on the top is in good condition, and the front and back hinges work fine. This model has an on/off. All the knobs are original and the cord is hidden inside the door.

Offered for your consideration is this wonderful, restored Arvin 5 tube radio – model 53. It is considered a compact or midget radio manufactured in the early 1950′s. It plays exceptionally well – clear and crisp with no hum. This is a working radio ready to play, display and enjoy – the sound is very good – it is playing as I write this. As with all my radios it is electrically sound – the tubes are strong and all of the original wax/paper capacitors have been replaced. The case has been restored to a screaming fire engine red using high quality automotive paint – it shines. The grill cloth is an excellent replacement and it is correct without a back. The measurements are: 8″ across, 5″ high and 4 wide. This radio will give years of good service. Every vintage tube radio I sell has been thoroughly serviced – tubes tested, components checked and then the unit is lubricated and cleaned inside and out. The work performed can be seen in the pictures of the chassis and/or found in the radio description.

Vintage Midcentury 1952 RCA Victor 2C514 Mini Clock Radio Tubes – Working. This unique, midcentury desktop clock radio by RCA Victor is in Very Good Condition! The two-tone radio displays beautifully with a Taupe plastic cabinet front, a painted Maroon Red back side with metallic gold accents. Cabinet condition is very nice except for one small hairline crack at the front top right corner (it has been reinforced internally with glue to prevent further damage and it does not diminish the radio’s overall charm). The Telechron Clock runs and keeps time. Approximate Overall Cabinet Dimensions: 8.5″W x 3.5″D x 6H. Due to the age of this item, there is no guarantee on the longevity of its operation. It is recommended that for continuous operation, items of this vintage be professionally serviced.

Restored Westinghouse mini vintage tube radio, cira 1947. A nice clean simplistic style – built in 1946/47. As you can see in the pictures, the chocolate bakelite is nicely mottled through with black swirls. The cabinet itself is sound, with no breaks or cracks – it is really beautiful. This is a working radio ready to play, display and enjoy – the sound is clear and crisp with no hum. As with all my radios it is electrically sound – the tubes are strong, all of the original capacitors have been replaced and the cord end has been polarized. Also featuring: a vernier tuner, that gives very specific tuning (the dial moves slower than the knob); a mottled bakelite cabinet; with a eight-bar grill; one; a working dial light that shines right through the dial, the original knobs and back. The measurements are just: 8″ across, 4.5″ high and 4 wide. This radio will give years of good service.
