The “modern plastic” cabinet was completely disassembled and cleaned, then buffed to a wondrously smooth, shiny and lustrous finish. The original knobs were polished. The unique original grill cloth has some minor wear to the right side. The photos say the rest about how pristine this radio is and how well it displays. Electronically, the chassis was restored, cleaned and serviced, with. Paper/wax and electrolytic capacitors replaced. Tubes and resistors were replaced as needed. All controls and contacts were detail cleaned and lubricated. Wiring and other components were replaced as needed. From a virus free home, t. This radio receives stations very well with good clear warm analog vacuum tube sound and volume with no hum using just the loop antenna inside the case with no need for an external antenna. The clock keeps accurate time and can wake with alarm or radio. The radio has been tested for several days and should continue to play loud and clear for many, many more years. The case is a mottled mahogany with a gold clock dial. The case has no cracks, chips or odors. I have thoroughly washed and buffed the case and it looks remarkable for a 67 year old. The knobs match and are original. The original hardboard back is still in great condition and shows the correct location of each tube. The inside chassis has been thoroughly cleaned; the volume control de-oxidized for smooth volume changes and all moving controls lubricated. I have replaced all old paper and electrolytic capacitors in the chassis with new modern capacitors and I have checked all resistors. Brittle or bare wiring has been replaced or re-insulated. All 5 easily found tubes have been tested and questionable tubes have been replaced. The power cord is still pliable and it and the speaker are in great condition. The radio has been successfully bench tested for at least 12 hours over several days. The radio size is approximately 6¼ high by 10½ wide by 5½ deep and weighs almost 6 pounds. It is in excellent condition, showing little of its 67 years. It is a classic design that many of us listened to in the morning while Mom fed us breakfast before heading off to school. It receives quite well, with very good sensitivity, selectivity and sound using the internal loop antenna. And of course a. S with all of the radios I restore, it has been gone over with the utmost attention to detail. The “modern” cabinet was completely disassembled and cleaned, then buffed to a wondrously smooth, shiny and lustrous finish. The dial face graphics are crisp, clear and softly lighted for night viewing. The dial face is a replacement. The knobs are not the originals and were polished. They are a good match for this radio. The original back cover/antenna is in excellent condition. The power cord was replaced. The photos say the rest about how well it displays. Electronically, the chassis was restored, cleaned and serviced, with all paper/wax and electrolytic capacitors replaced with new ones. Tubes and resistors were tested and replaced as needed. All controls and contacts were detail cleaned and lubricated. Wiring and other components were replaced as needed. The radio was aligned, peaked and tuned for optimal reception and quality of sound using the internal loop antenna. This Medicare age radio is once again working and looking like new. It is to be displayed proudly and it will draw well deserved attention with its charm. It will provide many more years of safe and reliable enjoyment if well cared for. Dimensions: 12.5x7x6.5. Note: Tube radios consist of a variety of vacuum tubes, capacitors, resistors and other electronic components. This radio has been disassembled, cleaned, and components tested. All non-functioning or suspect components were replaced. Vacuum tubes are similar to light bulbs in that an interior filament heats up inside the vacuum tube. When the filament burns out, the tube will need to be replaced. The tubes in this radio are in good. The longevity of the tube and its filaments is related to the length of time the radio is operated and the frequency of turning the radio power on and off. This majestic pre WWII radio must have been quite the modern marvel when it was new. The rich wood veneer blends and book end top are in excellent condition, especially given its age. The black lacquer grill and bottom trim bring out the warmth and beauty of the cabinet. Add to that the functional push button tuning and bright green magic tuning eye, and it is a beautiful sight to behold! The dial bezel and push button escutcheon were lightly polished, leaving some of the age patina. Using an external wire antenna (provided). It boasts the rich and mellow tube sound that has a control knob for adjusting the treble/bass for your listening preference. And of course a. S with all of the radios I restore, it has been gone over with the utmost attention to detail. This is a rare radio and there probably were not a lot of them made, as they were probably fairly expensive. The cabinet was stripped of the old varnish and lacquer, keeping the original stain. It was then nourished, rejuvenated and balanced. The bottom trim and grill were redone with black lacquer to match the original. The entire cabinet was then given eight coats of clear lacquer with excellent results and the photos speak for themselves. The dial face is in very good condition with crisp and clear graphics that are nicely lighted by two bulbs. The copper push button escutcheon shows some minor stressing or bending of the metal due to an unknown cause, but does not detract from the overall appearance of the radio. The grill cloth was replaced. He knobs were polished and have the original felt washers. The power cord was replaced, using the original plug. Felt pads were added to the bottom to protect your furniture. The dial cord was replaced. The radio was aligned, peaked and tuned for optimal reception and quality of sound using the external wire antenna. This beautiful and larger radio has a commanding presence and should be displayed in a prominent location. Just imagine all of the news of the world, music and stories this wonderful radio has broadcast. It would be a wonderful as a gift or as an addition to the collection. Ewly restored inside and out, it will continue to provide many more years of reliable enjoyment if well cared for. Note: Tube radios consist of a variety of vacuum tubes, capacitors, resistors and other electronic components. This radio has been disassembled, cleaned, and components tested.
