Before continuing, if you could please click on. This radio design could have come right off the set of AMC’s Mad Men. And. It has a Phono-Jack input that can be used to play an iPod or MP3 player – I tested it and it works great! For those unfamiliar with Zenith’s 825 radio series. The sound is amazing. You have to hear it to believe it. Zenith used a huge 7.5 speaker. To accomplish such wonderful sound. Represented advancement in sound performance from its predecessor – the 725 series – with an extra tube and adding Automatic Frequency Control (AFC). This radio paved the way toward Zenith’s ultimate achievement in’High Fidelity’ radio later that decade with the introduction of the Zenith C845 (Super Interlude) in 1959. The T825 and its successive brethren the A825 and Y825 had a wide array of colors including. Please see the video demo below and hear this amazing radio play – then scroll below for more detail on the radio. As you can hear/see from the video, this radios sounds amazing – this radio was one of Zeniths high end players in a crowded field – The best way to differentiate between the Zenith 725 & 835′s is the speaker grill – the 725′s had flat plastic mesh grills in either tan or dark burgundy – where as the 825′s have a slightly conical-shaped speaker grill in a shiny brass-colored finish. All “Super-Symphony” models evolved from the Zenith “Symphony, ” model 7H820 (1950), and before that, the 8H023 (1946). The metal dial bezels on these models are almost always in a state of heavy oxidation and sometimes even rust. This is one has minimal oxidation – one of the better bezels I have seen on one of these models! Zenith “825″ or “725″. And compare the bezels – this one is in really good condition – with only a few areas of oxidization – which give it just enough patina to look vintage – since the cabinet shines so bright! Rarely are these models found in this good original condition! The 825 series Zenith’s are considered the “Royalty of Radio”. Every Zenith enthusiast should own at least one in their collection of high-performance tube radios! The T825 is a very solid, long lasting radio with amazing sound. Perfect for collectors or as a functional display piece to show off in your office or home & will go with any décor! You will enjoy listening to it for years to come! Zenith and Antique Radio Collectors – Don’t let this one slip by! Made in the USA by. Zenith Radio Corp; Chicago, Illinois. The chassis is #8T01. Cabinet is in nearly flawless condition. You can clearly see the stunningly clean cabinet and components. It will be difficult to find a better example! Clean and shiny center front round metal dial bezel. There are 3 knobs. The left is for band selection with an outer dial ring for tuning, the right is for on/off/volume, and there is a center knob which is part of the dial pointer that adjusts tone control. Zenith T825 Technical Specs. 8 Valves / Tubes: 6BJ6 6AB4 12AT7 12BA6 12BA6 12AU6 19T8 35C5. Principle: Super-Heterodyne ZF/IF 455 kHz; 2 AF stage(s). Wave bands: Broadcast (BC) and FM. Power type and voltage: Alternating Current supply (AC) / 117 Volt. Loudspeaker: Permanent Magnet Dynamic 7.5 inch. Whenever you turn the dial you get a station! Using just the single wire connection that uses the power cord as an antenna. Very impressive not just for 1950′s audio sound but performance that stacks up to any radio out there today – and with the added benefit of the deep tone only a tube radios can reproduce! The exterior has been polished gently with a plastic polish and it maintains an. Amazing ORIGINAL dark walnut Bakelite finish. The cabinet looks almost like new. The knobs, cord/plug, bezel, dial cover, dial pointer, & cabinet are ALL ORIGINAL! Even the original label is mostly intact on the bottom of the radio, plus the T825 stamp from the factory. As a 60 year old radio, you will find a blemish and imperfection on the sides, front, top, bottom and back – but nothing that detracts from the overall condition. The original back is sturdy and in good condition with all of its original screws in place. From the Zenith “Super Symphony” 1955 Sales Brochure. Individualized Tone Control, and On/Off indicator extra features. Comes With convenient carrying handle. Acclaimed the finest radio of its kind. In French Green, Dawn Grey, or Swirl Walnut Plastic. It amazing to think that this very radio likely broadcast such 1955 historical events as. Rosa Parks refusing to sit at the back of the bus. Eisenhower suffering a heart attack. James Dean dying in a car accident. A month before the release of Rebel Without A Cause, and in music history. Diddley’s single “I’m a Man” makes it to #1 on the R&B charts! Make sure to check out all of my auctions after you’ve looked at this one. I’m listing an eclectic assortment of museum quality antiques and collectibles this week, and I suspect that there will be something to interest just about everybody. Here’s a 1930′s Effanbee Charlie McCarthy doll in the rare 1st edition “Eddie Bergen” box. Condition of the doll is excellent to near mint throughout, as you can see in the pictures. The spring that closes the puppet’s jaw needs to be replaced (or possibly just refitted — I haven’t opened the doll up to see), but the cosmetics of the doll are exceptionally nice. Clean clothing, with no tears or insect damage. Beautiful skin tone, with no tar/nicotine residue. A perfectly formed top hat. You get the picture. Charlie’s head is pristine, as you can see in the photograph, and his monocle is undamaged. The box lid has three detached side flaps (one is in the box; the other two are long gone), and an entrepreneurial prior owner (quite possibly the original owner) used back side of the lid to promote a Saturday morning refreshment business on his/her front lawn. Otherwise the box is complete and in presentable condition, and the label is clean and fully intact as you can see. The doll comes with the stand pictured in the photographs. If you’re looking for a nice collectible to place beside the doll, check out my other listings this week — specifically, a near mint 1938 Majestic Charlie McCarthy radio. The two have been shelf-mates for decades, and it would be nice if they could stay together a bit longer. That’s about it. Rest assured it will arrive at your home in the same fine condition in which it leaves mine. The item “Near Mint 1938 Effanbee Charlie McCarthy Doll withRare Eddie Bergen Misprinted Box” is in sale since Sunday, May 31, 2015. This item is in the category “Collectibles\Radio, Phonograph, TV, Phone\Radios\Tube Radios\1930-49″. The seller is “firebottles” and is located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Make sure to check out all of my auctions after you’ve looked at this one. I’m listing an eclectic assortment of museum quality antiques and collectibles this week, and I suspect that there will be something to interest just about everybody. Here’s an exceptionally nice 1938 Majestic Charlie McCarthy radio. This is the less common brown version, and its condition is excellent to near mint throughout. Charlie is complete (including the monocle and chain), with vibrantly colored enamel and no damage or paint deterioration. The case is pristine — probably the nicest CM case I’ve ever seen. In the back, below the lower left screw hole, there’s small chip (hidden by the back cover), but the other screw holes are perfect (very unusual for this radio), and the case itself is almost like new, with no cracks, no gouges, no scars, and a beautifully formed grill whose slats are straight and undamaged. The chassis is likewise clean — with minimal oxidation and the original paper label still intact — and the radio still works. Has modest performance consistent with other low tube-count 30′s mantle radios, but when warmed up, the radio will tune most high-powered local stations and play them good volume. The line cord has been replaced, but the antenna line is original and in good shape. Overall, a really super example of an eminently collectible antique radio. And if you’re looking for a companion to perch beside it, check out the Effanbee Charlie McCarthy doll I’m listing separately this week. It’s the rare 1st version with “Eddie Bergen” printed on the box instead of Edgar Bergen, and like the radio you see in this listing, the doll’s condition is close to mint. The two have been shelf-mates for decades, and it would be nice if they could stay together a bit longer. That’s about it.
