We have a hard-to-find vintage 1954-55 table-top radio. Made in Germany by Grundig. This model is number 2043 W/3D. The wood is in very good condition for the age. See photos for the wear and current state. The material over the speaker section is pristine, no damage seen, again refer to photos. The unit is clean, no odor, and powers on, and has static sound through speaker. The cord is original and has a hand set switch to turn the radio on and off. The cord is in very good condition, and the plug itself has a loose prong, but still works. There is repair needed. The dial knobs turn, but the connection from the tuners to the channels are loose, and don’t currently function. The speaker works, as it gives out the static noise that one hears between stations, where the dial is sitting now. The buttons are all original, and sit as seen in the photo’s. They all punch in and release. The plastic grill (bottom front) is cracked and missing two original screws. There is a modern small nail holding the middle part now (see photos). The chassis is clean, and the inside lights up when turned on. The sides are in really nice condition, and the grids are intact, very good quality, and clean. The unit measures 21.5 x 9 x 14.5 inches. The radio is heavy and weighs approximately 15-20 pounds. Here is some information about this make of radio we found on a radio historical website.
