This rare and stately wooden radio has a command presence and is in excellent condition. Made the year the US entered WWII, it boasts three bands, all of which receive very well. With functioning push buttons. That have the original call sign labels, it looks gorgeous from any angle. Using various veneers and solid woods, the radio is very well made with quality craftsmanship. The dial graphics really stand out and are perfect. It not only looks beautiful, it sounds good too. With seven tubes and an internal loop antenna, it has superb sensitivity, selectivity and reception. There is an external antenna wire (provided) for improved reception on the SW bands. It also has tone control for your listening preference. S with all of the radios I restore, it has been gone over with the utmost attention to detail. The cabinet was stripped of the old varnish and lacquer, keeping the original stain. The top and bottom trim were redone with brown mahogany toners. The entire cabinet was then given seven coats of clear lacquer with excellent results. There is a sliver of veneer missing from the right rear side that does not detract from the overall appearance. The dial face is in excellent condition with crisp and clear graphics that are nicely lighted. The original dial cover has been polished and is in excellent condition. The escutcheon has been repainted the original color. It has a tiny crack on the left side. That is hard to see. The original knobs were polished. One knob (2nd from left) has a small area missing. The grill cloths have been replaced. The power cord was replaced. Felt pads were added to the bottom to protect your furniture. Electronically, the chassis was restored, cleaned and serviced, with all paper/wax and electrolytic capacitors replaced with new ones. Tubes and resistors were tested and replaced as needed. All controls and contacts were detail cleaned and lubricated. Wiring and other components were replaced as needed. He radio was aligned, peaked and tuned for optimal reception and quality of sound using the internal loop antenna. SW reception is best received using the external antenna wire. I would think this beautiful radio was displayed very proudly. In its first home. Now at 79 years old and newly restored, it can once again grace your home or office with distinction. It will continue to provide reliable service for many more years if well cared for. Note: Tube radios consist of a variety of vacuum tubes, capacitors, resistors and other electronic components. This radio has been disassembled, cleaned, and components tested. All non-functioning or suspect components were replaced. Vacuum tubes are similar to light bulbs in that an interior filament heats up inside the vacuum tube. When the filament burns out, the tube will need to be replaced. The tubes in this radio are in good. The longevity of the tube and its filaments is related to the length of time the radio is operated and the frequency of turning the radio power on and off.
