This bakelite gem from Arvin has an impressive atomic style that perfectly captures the timeless spirit and design of the mid century era. Hand polished and restored to a mirror shine. Despite its smaller size it has impressive booming audio and great selectivity. Complete with all the correct corresponding labels and original back board. It measures 6″ tall X 10″ wide X 4 1/2 deep. This is a fully restored and working radio that is ready to play, display and enjoy for years to come. In the interest of safety, performance and reliability ALL paper, wax and electrolytic capacitors have been replaced with modern day equivalents. Any resistors testing out of their allotted tolerance have been replaced. Every tube was tested and replaced if found to be under performing. Voltages are checked against the manufacturers specs. All moving parts are lubricated for smooth operation. A brand new power cord is added to replace the unsafe and brittle original. The signal strength is then aligned to factory specs to provide peak performance. Lastly, the set is then put through its paces by bench testing it for a minimum of 48 hours (sometimes even longer) to ensure reliability and to allow for a proper’burn in’ period for new components. As a result of this entire restoration process, the set performs clearly, strongly and with that unmistakable tube driven sound. No cracks, breaks or chips. Rich dark chocolate bakelite with deep subtleties of tiger stripe marbling and swirling. H and polished back to its original and natural mirror-like reflectivity while retaining all of the natural qualities and textures of the bakelite. No clear coats or lacquers, No oils and No’quick shine’ tricks are ever used. All of the original cabinet factory labels are intact which is getting to be a rarity to come by in radio collecting. The grille cloth is clean, tight and without tears or rips and compliments the set beautifully with a light cocoa coloring accented by black speckling and thinly woven gold strands. With each of my hand polished radio cabinets I invest significant time and attention to detail in order to bring you a radio that is worth displaying in your prized collection or proudly accenting your home or office decor. No shortcuts are taken. Quality is the end goal. Knobs & Dial Scale. This radio comes complete with the original plastic knobs. The volume knob has been polished to a crystal clear reflectivity. The tuning knob has been painted. When I first received the set, the tuning knob was painted red by a previous owner giving this set a real bozo the clown look – yuck! I opted to paint the tuning knob a rich dark brown and then polish it to a smooth finished gloss. I think the end result is much more visually pleasing and flows better with the color of the set design. The coaster style dial scale turns smoothly and flawlessly as you turn the tuning knob. The dial scale is crystal clear with bright red numbering with no flaking or fading. This set also comes with the original backboard which is something not often found on restored radios these days.
