Heres one you dont come across very often; A 1935 Emerson model 110 miniature tombstone radio featuring an absolutely gorgeous Ingraham made American Walnut cabinet, Mahogany inlays, lighted aeroplane style dial with micro-selector, and outstanding performance. The American Walnut cabinet is a real stunner. Beautiful wood grain flows throughout the entire set. Three Mahogany inlays grace each side on the front of the cabinet. Measuring only 7 ¾ W x 11 ¼ H x 5 ¼ D this little guy is classified as a true miniature tombstone, one of only a few miniature tombstone cabinets manufactured by the famed Ingraham Cabinet Company. An attractive Art Deco style grill, jet black trim and the Emerson G clef log finish this rare beauty off with the utmost elegance and class. A definite head turner no matter which room in the home or office you choose to display it in. The round aeroplane style dial lights nice and bright. It features a gold background with black numbers. The Emerson G clef logo is positioned in the center along with the sleek micro-selector for extra ease tuning. All letters and numbers are legible and show very little signs of wear. A surrounding wood escutcheon is quite unique and adds a nice touch. Both knobs are in perfect shape and control on/off & volume and tuning. Grill Cloth: The 1930s style grill cloth is a fine reproduction featuring a classic gold color with a black Art Deco geometric design. All tubes in the 5 tube chassis were tested with any weak tubes being replaced. All caps, filters, and resistors were checked and replaced as needed. All brittle or bare wiring was replaced and a new speaker installed. The chassis has been cleaned, lubed, and re-aligned for optimal performance. Using the original line antenna still retaining its original holder! The radio performs very well. For such a small radio, I was pleasantly surprised by the rich tone and amount of volume it produced. The Cabinets Finish and Restoration Process: Our Radio cabinets undergo a vigorous restoration process. Our goal is to maintain the natural beauty of the wood and grain, while providing a deep luster and shine. We achieve this by removing all the old and worn lacquers and stains. We then sand the cabinet with fine grit pads down to the original bare wood. Nicks, chips, and blemishes are filled and/or blended. Any loose veneer is re-secured. We make sure any filler applied or repairs made are blended nicely and do not detract from the beauty of the set unless otherwise noted. New stains and sealers are applied by hand. We continue by using many coats of Mohawk brand lacquers and toners applied in the same manner as when the radio was originally finished in the factory. We use a nitrocellulose piano lacquer which is applied through a professional HVLP turbine spray system in a climate controlled room. Nitrocellulose lacquer is very thin. We also apply very thin coats. This allows the lacquer to seep into the grain and not cover it up. A fine grit wet sanding follows every third coat along with a polishing process and ending with an Oz glaze rub. Many hours of work are put into the radios, but as you can see, the final outcome is a beautiful, natural looking cabinet with gorgeous luster& shine. Our radios are a great piece of history that come to you ready to proudly display, as well as listen to, in any room of the home or office. Dimensions: 7 3/4″ W x 11 1/4 H x 5 1/4″ D.
