The R721 was marketed by Zenith as the. This 7 tubes radio has good power and output and has been serviced electronically. Music sounds spectacular coming through its considerable 5.5 inch speaker with great bass and tone and the selectivity is nothing short of phenomenal. The Bakelite cabinet is ALL ORIGINAL and it has a mirror shine in the right light, you can even see the brown and black marbled swirls! The unique dial and lens is nearly flawless the Zenith R721 and its variants (Like the L721 or G724 Models) have an angular wedge shaped geometry and long sweeping station pointer which puts this model on most Zenith Collectors bucket list! It is not common to find a Zenith R721 in this good of condition and rarer still to find one electronically serviced usually the dial lens will have cracks, the Bakelite would have chips, the handle is broken, and the brass collared knobs would have scoring or are seriously tarnished – NOT THIS ONE this R721 is as close to MINT as you will get! As Zenith said in their ads. The quality goes in before the name goes on. And the condition of this radio is a testament to that legacy. It is a very solid, long lasting radio with amazing sound. Perfect for collectors or interior designers and as a functional display piece or to show off in your office or home & will go with any décor! And it would also make a unique gift! You will enjoy listening to it for years to come! Made in the USA by Zenith Radio Corp. As you can hear, this radio sounds great! Very deep warm tones. This radio has been serviced electronically, tubes were tested and tested strong, the volume and tuning pots were cleaned and work well, filter caps were replaced, there is no slip in the tuning knob and reception and selectivity is very good. FM comes in well too though there is some background hum in between stations once its settled on a station it sounds excellent (as you may be able to hear in the video demo). Its been cleaned on the outside. The antenna is internal and features the Armstrong fm antenna system. The Bakelite case was thoroughly polished bringing the natural mirror shine out. There are 3 knobs on this radio, front right knob controls on/off/volume, the front middle knob is for tuning, and the front left knob is for band control. This was a sophisticated radio for its time! The original back is in good condition and is tightly fastened. The back is in very good condition and stable. Zenith Magazine Advertisement (G724 variant). Amazing Super Sensitive – FM reception gets more stations. Glamorous new Walnut plastic – Cabinet with Flexo-Grip handle. This radio was launched before the 1950s boom period. Zenith “Super Triumph” History. This radio was one of Zeniths first that included FM receiver technology licensed under Armstrong patents. (The famed electrical engineer and inventor). This radio set itself apart in the marketplace in 1950 with its angular wedge shaped geometry of the dial scale and the long sweeping red station pointer. On close inspection, you can see detailed swirling in the gold dial background, a nice touch of elegance along with the brass collared knobs. This radio had a very elegant appearance and for its time was quite sophisticated with a side tone control. It amazing to think that this very radio likely broadcast such 1950 historical events as the start of the Korean War when North Korean Communists invaded South Korea, the beginning of the era of Era of McCarthyism, in Baseball, the NY Yankees defeat the Philadelphia Phillies 4 games to 0 to win the World Series, and in music news – Fender launches the new solid-body electric guitar originally called the Broadcaster, but known today as the Telecaster. Dimension: 12″ in length X 7″ high X 7 in depth. I use plenty of Bubble Wrap, extra padding and double box or use extra box support material. It will be marked Fragile & This side up on the box to make sure it is handled carefully. The radio is fully insured. A small sampling of my feedback. Best packaging ever for a vintage radio – I really appreciate it. Fantastic radio as advertised, careful and thoughtful packaging. If there are any problems, please contact me and we can review options.
