Vintage German Tube Radio SABA MEERSBURG AUTOMATIC 125 STEREO 4 Speakers

This offering is for a 55 years old german tube radio. Meersburg Automatic 125 Stereo. Model 1960 – 61. Circuit + Instruction diagram. Please take a look at the four. Unfortunately, the sound quality in this videos are inadequate. The radio sounds much better! And maybe the video will not be shown in all countries. Due to the great weight, deliveries to Asia (excluding China and Japan) only on request. In model year 1960/61 Saba brought the Meersburg Automatic 125 Stereo in the market, a radio with engine electronics circuit for tuning. With a price of 599.00 DM it was one of the most expensive automatic radio in this series. In Germany, the average monthly income was 508.00 DM(German Mark). The development department of Saba was able to realize all the fantastic ideas in this radio. A total of 10 tubes and four big Saba- Greencone-speakers were installed in this high-end radio. High-quality reception characteristics, a powerful amplifier and four outstanding speakers mounted in a noble high-quality shiny wooden cabinet. What more do you want? A significant development is the automatic tuning. A quick tap on the keys in the middle and the scanning will start. If a strong station is found, then stops the automatic. The transmitter is then adjusted precisely. Please note that the automatic scan was developed in 1953. At that time there were fewer FM stations. The performance of the transmitter was lower than today. Therefore, it is possible that the automatic search does not always exact. In this case, it is useful if the automatic is turned off. You will find some interesting data to Saba at the end of the offer. The Meersburg Automatic 125 Stereo is a real gem. The radio is in excellent condition. It seems to me that radio would just come out of the factory. I have rarely seen such neat device. Extremely hard to find the original manual. The diagram is also very well preserved. The Meersburg was handled very carefully. Through the careful technical and optical restoration, it gives an authentic impression of radio technology that time. For the technically interested readers some details. Tubes 10: EC92, EC92, ECH81, EF85, EABC80, EM84(new tube NOS), ECL86, ECL86, EABC80, ECL80. Power: Voltage selection AC 110, 125, 150, 220Volt. Loudspeakers: 4 Saba Green-Cone Loudspeakers. Dimensions: 25.2 x 15.6 x 11.4 inch, (640 x 395 x 290 mm). Net weight: 45 lb 2.5oz (20.5kg). While this radio is attractive and certainly is an eye-catcher, it’s real strength is the chassis. Clean chassis, and in amazing performer. I restored the chassis as well as the housing very carefully. The ten tube chassis has been cleaned and lubed carefully before restoring. Tar and electrolytic capacitors and a lot of other parts have been replaced. All have been carefully restored, the combination works very well, as you can see on the videos. Still I must point out, although great attention it is possible that the radio fails in the future. After all, it is nearly sixty years old, but even in this case a solution is possible. Attached are the service manuals and schematics, so a good technician can perform possible repairs. And if you have any questions about this wonderful device, please contact me. The FM provides the amazing thrilling sound these radio are known for. Nevertheless, for serious listening, an external antenna will provide amazing radioreception. Please note this is a Europaen model. FM works up to 100MHz (almost up to 102MHz). A few words about me. I’m radio and television master of the “old school”. The training in Germany will be made dual. This is of great advantage. It means the trainee is formed parallel in the company and at school. The company provides practical knowledge and the school teaches the theoretical fundamentals. After three and a half years there is a final exam in theory and practice. By the master exam is possible to open his own business and young people to train. My training in the craft began in 1967 as the tube technology was at its peak. Over time I have repaired several thousand devices expertly. All offered radios are in my collection for decades. Now I reduce my collection and offering some special pieces here. I will gladly answer your questions about tube radios. I´m using a check-list with approx. 80 points for all work which has to be done in an old tube-radio to make it running for the next years. So I measured all voltages, tested and replaced tubes, checked electrical and mechanical components, adjusted the filters, lubricated the mechanics, checked and fastened screws. The dial glass is beautiful, cleaned and polished. And did very much more necessary work. Please note some pictures reflect furnishings. The finish is original, certainly has the crazing in the finish that is so common to these radios, but it is still shiny and attractive. No apologies for this performance. Original speakers all in place and sound great. The furniture was cleaned and polished, but I get his old patina. This beauty radio with it’s lovely furniture, dial glass and speaker grille must not be damaged. I will package this radio personally to make sure it is done correctly. The radio has a very high weight. My packing is overkill, see the pictures and my feedback. This is a used radio from my collection and it is offered by private. Usual signs of use are not listed separately and are no cause for complaint. Your questions will be answered professionally. SABA, some interesting facts. Saba was one of the most popular manufacturers for tube radios in Germany. The company was founded 1835 as a metallurgical company in Villingen in the Black Forest. At first they made watches, some years later they made precision scales for postcards, door bells, bicycle bells and some other metal products. In 1924 the production of spare parts for homemade tube radios begins. In 1927 continued the manufacture of complete radios. The reason for the success was the technical progress linked to the high quality of the products. On the scale of sales volume, Telefunken was the number one, Saba number two and Nordmende number three. In 1938, the number Saba manufactured 1,000,000 tube radios. During the war, Saba fabricate FM transmitters and receivers for tanks. In 1945 the factory was bombed. The production of radios began again in 1947. In 1949 the company had 1,000 employees, the economic volume was 21 million DM. Sensational was the production of automatic radio. The automatic tuning by a motor was probably unique in the fifties. Some names of the modells are Freiburg, Konstanz, Schwarzwald and Meersburg Automatic. Since the early radio broadcasts, Saba was one of the leading companies and well known for its high level of quality. Production of valve radios concluded in 1969. The free listing tool.
