We offer Quality Antique Radios. To view our other antique radio auctions, as well as antique radio grill cloth. To add us to your favorites. Fairbanks Morse was a manufacturing company based in Indiana in the late 19. The company also spent a brief time manufacturing high end radios with elegant cabinet designs. Manufacturing of radios was very small compared to their other products which are why they are highly sought after today, and very difficult to find. Here we offer one of their finest models. The American Walnut cabinet is just beautiful. Gorgeous wood grain flows throughout the entire set. A swirling burl grain graces the front of the cabinet along with attractive ribbon cut inlays. A large Art Deco grill not only looks great but allows for optimal sound from the speaker. It all comes together magnificently when powered up and the bright back lit dial comes to life as does the emerald green magic tuning eye. Quite an impressive sight! Jet black trim adds the perfect contrast to finish the cabinet off with elegance and style. Youll be the envy of all with this masterpiece proudly displayed in any room of your home or office. The large back lit dial is quite the attention getter. It features an array of colors from black and yellow to red and green. Positioned to the right of the dial is an inset magic green tuning eye. It lights a bright emerald green and opens and closes as the signal strengthens or weakens. The dial is illuminated by two dial lamps and features three band scales. When listening to the other bands, the dial lights up in accordance to which scale you currently have tuned in. A very neat feature for the time! The dial pointer also features a precision pointer for super fine precise tuning! All four knobs are perfect and control on/off & volume, tone control, tuning, and band switch. The 1930s style grill cloth is a fine reproduction featuring a. Gold color with an Art Deco geometric design. All tubes in the 6 (including eye) tube chassis were tested with any weak tubes being replaced. All caps, filters, and resistors were checked and replaced as needed. All brittle or bare wiring was replaced or re-insulated. The chassis has been cleaned, lubed, and re-aligned for optimal performance. The Cabinets Finish & Restoration Process. Our Radio cabinets undergo a vigorous restoration process. Our goal is to maintain the natural beauty of the wood and grain, while providing a deep luster and shine. We achieve this by removing all the old and worn lacquers and stains. We then sand the cabinet with fine grit pads down to the original bare wood. Nicks, chips, and blemishes are filled and/or blended. Any loose veneer is re-secured. We make sure any filler applied or repairs made are blended nicely and do not detract from the beauty of the set unless otherwise noted. New stains and sealers are applied by hand. We continue by using many coats of Mohawk brand lacquers and toners applied in the same manner as when the radio was originally finished in the factory. We use a nitrocellulose piano lacquer which is applied through a professional HVLP turbine spray system in a climate controlled room. Nitrocellulose lacquer is very thin. We also apply very thin coats. This allows the lacquer to seep into the grain and not cover it up. A fine grit wet sanding follows every third coat along with a polishing process and ending with an Oz glaze rub. Many hours of work are put into the radios, but as you can see, the final outcome is a beautiful, natural looking cabinet with gorgeous luster& shine. Our radios are a great piece of history that come to you ready to proudly display, as well as listen to, in any room of the home or office. 18W x 12H x 10D.
