Vintage German Tube Radio SIEMENS SCHATULLE H42 produced 1954

This offering is for a german tube radio. Model 1954 – 55. In model year 1954, Siemens has developed a range of radios in the so-called Schatulle-Series. The special design was found in the lockable doors. This radio receiver looked more like a piece of furniture. Behind the doors is a high quality middle class Radio with two loudspeakers. Another ease of use is the so-called local FM button. With this button your favorite station can be set. The adjustment is made through the bottom cover. For this purpose the enclosed adjustment key is used. The key is not original, but can be used for this setting. Thus an optimal reception is possible. When designing the sound impression Siemens goes its own way. In this radio a rectangular and a round speaker is installed. With a small package size, a very large radiating surface has been achieved. The two tone controls have a large control range. Especially the deep tones are very voluminous. If you want to attach great importance to appearance and at the same time see little controls in your living room, then the box is the perfect radio. The surface of the radio has grown and natural patina, with only a few signs of use. The well-maintained housing does not recognize its age. It is sixty years old. The Schatulle H42 is ideal for the living rrom. It was over the years handled very carefully. Through the careful technical and optical restoration, it gives an authentic impression of radio technology that time. For the technically interested readers some details. Tubes 7: EC92, EF80(new tube NOS), ECH81, EF85, EM84(new tube), EABC80, EL84. Power: AC 110, 125, 150, 220, 240 Volt. Dimensions: 22.8 x 15.6 x 11.8 inch, (580 x 395 x 300 mm). Net weight: 13.3 lb 13.4 oz (14kg). While this radio is attractive and it’s real strength is the chassis. Clean chassis, and in amazing performer. I restored the chassis as well as the housing very carefully. The seven tube chassis has been cleaned and lubed carefully. Tar and electrolytic capacitors, lamp and two tubes have been replaced. All have been carefully restored. Only if the radio meets my quality standards, and these are very high, then I offer it. Although great attention it is possible that the radio fails. After all, it is nearly sixty years old. But even in this case a solution is possible. Attached are the schematics. The FM provides the amazing thrilling sound these radio are known for. Nevertheless, for serious listening, an external antenna will provide amazing radioreception. Please note this is a Europaen model, FM works up to 100,5MHz. A few words about me. I’m radio and television master of the “old school”. The training in Germany will be made dual. This is of great advantage. It means the trainee is formed parallel in the company and at school. The company provides practical knowledge and the school teaches the theoretical fundamentals. After three and a half years there is a final exam in theory and practice. By the master exam is possible to open his own business and young people to train. My training in the craft began in 1967 as the tube technology was at its peak. Over time I have repaired several thousand devices expertly. All offered radios are in my collection for decades. Now I reduce my collection and offering some special pieces here. I will gladly answer your questions about tube radios. I´m using a check-list with approx. 80 points for all work which has to be done in an old tube-radio to make it running for the next fifty years. So I measured all voltages, tested tubes, checked electrical and mechanical components, adjusted the filters, lubricated the mechanics, checked and fastened screws. The dial glass is beautiful, cleaned and polished. And did very much more necessary work. Original speakers all in place and sound great. The sound can be controlled by potentiometres and a sound keyboard. Shines the brass, but I get his old patina. The furniture was cleaned and polished. The finish is original, certainly has the crazing in the finish that is so common to these radios, but it is still shiny and attractive. The lower original panel is also in place. Please look to the pictures carefully. Because of the time of use has the wood some scratches. But even these traces of use the radio shows make it a beautiful antique. No apologies for this performance. This beauty radio with it’s lovely furniture, dial glass and speaker grille must not be damaged. I will package this radio personally to make sure it is done correctly. My packing is overkill, see the pictures and my feedback. This is a used radio from my collection and it is offered by private. Usual signs of use are not listed separately and are no cause for complaint. Looking at the pictures you can see reflections from the room. There are items that are reflected on the surface of the housing. Your questions will be answered professionally. The free listing tool.
